The Queen's Chair: Actress Mo'nique In Favor Of Open Marriage (217 hits)

I'm playing catch up on my DVR. I just watched Barbara Walters's last Academy Award special and especially her interview with comedienne Mo'nique. I couldn't believe that she and her third husband, Sidney, have an open marriage.

What's an open marriage? They have no secrets from each other. They can flirt with other people and s*x outside of their marriage isn't a deal breaker for them. Say what? I heard Will Smith and his wife have this type of marriage.

Then why get married at all?

If they want companionship, buy a dog.

Sorry, I'm old school. Marriage is a union between two people not three. It's about love, honesty, commitment and fidelity. To each his/her own. That is definitely a deal breaker for me. How about you?

I know that everyone lives her own life; I just know I couldn't do that. The open marriage thing. (wink)

I agree with you on the whole beating thing...that sends a wrong message. And being and staying married for the sake of the kids makes children suffer even more.

I know I have my biases. And an open marriage may work for some people. I just think that an "open marriage" just mocks the institution. Which brings me back to my point...why get married at all? You can share your life with someone or buy a pet.

These days, young people don't take it seriously and break up for some of the dumbest reasons. No wonder 1/2 of marriages in our country end up in divorce. Makes you wonder, if nothing in our country holds any value or meaning anymore.

Is this the same Barbara Walters who for years was the mistress of a married man?!?

Me, since "I" am only with my own self 24-7, "I" am the only person who can account for what "I" am doing / not doing and not someone else...can anyone else say they know what their mate or anyone else is doing / not doing when not in our direct presents?????

but, more important for me is only Mo'nique knows what makes her happy or not happy in the first place therefore if "I" in now way ALLOW her choices to live her own life as she sees fit for her , to take contol of my presonal life... it is none of my persoanl business any way!!!!!!

PLEASE pay special attention to how "I" said "I" allow....(smile)

I do chant (pray) that this person who must get a dog has not deadly fear of dogs nor a life threatening allergy to dogs, etc.

I chant (pray) that this person who lives under a DICTATOR GOVERNMENT, one day gets to come to my country which has Democracy and each individual is given freedom of choice and, the freedoms to do what is best for them self. (smile)

My point is that some people do not marry the first or maybe even the second or third person they have s*x with...nor do they only have s*x to have children, but have s*x for pleasure aslo... "I" doubt if people marry with the idea that they are going to be getting a divorce...and married men / women do bring home aides, ect. and any woman who would rather have her children see her get regular daily / weekly beatings by the person she is married to to protect that marriage over her children is what(?!?) a GREAT MOTHER?!?

There is no one who knows that they will remain with their partners because they have a liscense by the state or they have taken a vow to remain married and "IN LOVE" WITH THE PRESON WHO HAS JUST KILLED THEIR MOTHER AND FATHER OR ALL OF THEIR CHILDREN...this is no logical...

Me, "I" just try to not judge others or even my self on the unknown..nor my biases or my prejudices that is all, plus this is what "I" believe Freedom / Civil Rights means(smile)
