The Queen's Chair: Check Out Our Future Writers...Amanda Nieves (174 hits)

(QM's Note: Last year, I taught an eight-week writing class for middle school students at School #12 on Post Avenue in Rochester, New York. I worked with four classes and the students and teachers were wonderful and anxious to improve their writing skills. During our time together, they did well on my writing quizzes and we put together stories about their schools, their lives/concerns, and learned the rich history that exists within their community. I decided to share somne of their stories with you. I am so proud of them all.)

My favorite thing to do is painting! I have been working at this for nine years. I started to like art when I was 3 years old. I have won hundreds of awards for best in show for my art work. I have been in several newspapers and I have been on the news. I would rather be famous for helping someone.

I would love to be an art teacher. I have had a scholarship offered to me for art. I went to the Memorial Art Gallery field trip and that's when I knew I wanted to be an art teacher. My dream is to get better at my paintings and to do more paintings at my church. Also my dream is to write inspirational children's books with beautiful art work in it.

Our school's most exciting projects for this year was making our giant animal sculpture. I think it would take all of the creativity from little children. Art is my favorite subject. Eleven art teachers will looe their jobs this year.
