The Queen's Chair: Having Faith In Ourselves (193 hits)

This week is Holy Week. It'a time for most of us to prepare to celebrate Christ's rising from the dead and returning to Earth. His resurrection saved our sins.

I often think about when my children tell me they are hungry. There's enough food in our house, but it's not what they want to eat. They see frozen meat and poultry in our freezer. Their definition of food means fast, easy, and unhealthy like chips, cheese doodles, and crackers.

I joke about with them about what they would have done with five loaves of bread and two small fish to feed a crowd of 5,000 men, women, and children. That was the daunting task that faced Jesus's disciples. All these people came to hear him and they had to feed this people who traveled from far and wide and to hear his word. However, they doubted themselves.

Jesus was standing near by; the disciples didn't know that. Jesus heard them talking about telling all these "hungry" people to go home. Full of compassion, Jesus stepped in and told them not to turn these people away. He looked up to heaven and spoke to HIS father. Jesus took the items and produced enough food from these items to feed the multitudes.

The real messages behind this whole scenario: not only will God supply our needs and the need put God first in our lives. When we try to take matters in our own hands, sometimes things don't turn out the way we expect them to.

In life, we face all types of struggles within certain situations. Others question are decisions and we second guess ourselves. We let outside people (sometimes total strangers) influence us. In this story, the mistake, the disciples would have made was sending 5,000 away hungry rather than connecting with God.

It's no secret what God can do, but I think we sometimes forget. We have to remember if Christ is in our vessel, you can smile at every storm. Now I have a cleare understanding, when my girlfriend tells me to give the situation over to God. I'm glad that I do.
