Today, The Black Scholars Index celebrates Dr. Samuel A. Floyd, Jr, a music educator and scholar. He founded the Journal and the Center for Black Music Research (CBMR). They uncover a vast history of Black music and composures, internationally. Various grants gave him the opportunity to devote all full-time work to his research. Check him out, a few clips, and CBMR several publications.

I took a black music history class at UCD. And, I thought about this class is where "I" learned how and why Jazz came into being when I heard Rev. J. Wright talking about how we in the Black community dance to a different drummer. (smile)

Thanks so much for this Leshell...YES WE CAN...
