As some of you may know, I publish the Houston Black Book African American Business Directory. We have just completed the fourth edition and it is SMOKIN' hot! I've always known that a business directory/book of this magnitude needs to be shared by others outside of the Houston market b/c of its content. And now it is time.
What makes this one different from the Black Pages and others? Everything. But don't take my word for it, see it for yourself and read what others have to say about it here:
http://houstonblackbook.com/ What I am looking for? At least ONE sharp individual who's either well connected or has the ability to present him or herself articulately and professionally. Ideally one who resides in a market with at least a few hundred black-owned businesses. (Markets like L.A. and Chicago may NOT work. Chicago is home to the original Black Pages and L.A. doesn't seem to be willing to support a project like this since there have been NUMEROUS attempts and most — if not all — have failed.) But, if you live in an area that you feel a directory like this would flourish, I would like to hear from you.
Your area doesn't have to be a metropolitan area either. If you live in an area where only 250 businesses spent an AVERAGE of only $500 FOR THE YEAR (which is very, very cheap), that's $125,000. Our cost to reproduce and get them shipped? Around $15,000. You do the math. That being said, the average ad sale should be closer to $1,000 as you'll soon discover that many business owners will want to stand out and purchase much LARGER space. Trust me, if we get out there it WILL be a hit!
What I'll provide? Professional advice & guidance; REAL directories to use as samples (from Houston, TX); Media Kits; business cards; functional web site; 30% of the GROSS; all of the graphic design; printing; etc. You would become the local publisher and be the face of the book — I'll be your support staff.
Shoot me an e-mail on: Clamos@HoustonBlackBook.com or call me directly on 832-883-1675 if you're interested. Sorry, but not looking for comments. Thanks for stopping by!
