Words Of Wisdom For The Young At Mind: Passing on the torch of positivity (921 hits)

Passing the torch forward, many would say is the responsibility of the elders---in order that the youth will maintain the integrity of being the future leaders of tomorrow. But what type of torches are the youth receiving from the elders? Are they torches to burn or build bridges? Are they torches to assassinate the character of another's being or torches that will add to the fire of uplifting? These questions raise their heads as we continue to see the youth fail on every level of accomplishment in the inner cities around our nation, as many of the elders are yet, still holding on to their unwanted torches.

It is a known fact that you can take a person out of the ghetto, but you can't take the impoverished thoughts of negativity, ignorance and hostility out of that person unless they are taught a different way.
(See: http://www.articlesnatch.com/topic/negativ...
Especially because in many ghetto's across our nation, it is the norm to retaliate against someone for "Disrespecting You." When all one sees is violence, poverty, rage and hostility amongst them---it becomes the mindset that these negative tactics of getting ahead in life by fist fighting, scratching, stabbing, screaming and shooting someone are the norms of society. Apparently, this is because a person of this mindset has never seen or experienced anything different. This scenario, reigns supreme amongst many inner city youth and even many inner city adults who have been enslaved by their own thoughts of negativity, due to their surroundings and experiences. As a result many of the youth of the contemporary world are being handed the wrong type of torches and the reflection of such, has a major negative impact on society in a whole.

Life coaches like Michael Beckwith, Lisa Nichols and Jack Canfield teach wonderful methods on how to help train the thoughts from being so negative to cleansed and positive thoughts. These lessons are not only for adults but for children as well----taking the word respect to a completely different level. As one begins to better respect and love themselves, one would then see other peoples courtesies and confidence as an earned account of receiving the torch that has been passed on. Let's help the youth receive the right torches to build a brighter future.

In doing research these are some of the impoverished thoughts of hostility that has been the result of many young men and women being murdered across our nation due to a "Fools Sense Of Disrespect." The list goes as follows:

Some examples of a fools sense of disrespect:

1. Someone stepping on your sneaker/shoe by accident

2. Someone not passing you a clip board at school/ at work in order for you to sign in to class/work

3. Someone walking with confidence that you don't quite known, due to a massive amount of insecurity on your behalf you feel that this person is disrespecting you

4. Someone saying hello to you with confidence and simply because you are not use to this type of dialogue you feel disrespected

5. Someone wearing a color that you don't like, so you feel the need to jump on them or kill them

6. Someone who speaks proper English in the ghetto, because your language is broken and usually of ill repute you begin to assassinate that persons character and say that that person thinks that he/sheis better then me

7. Someone who says no to the peer pressure of gang violence

8. Someone who says no, to the drug lord in the neighborhood

9. Someone looking at a person admiring their beauty, because one hasn't been exposed to such they feel that this is a disrespectful gesture

Some positive ways to pass the torch on and teach the youth to be respectful

1. Except an apology for someone's mistake

2. Be responsible for your own actions and don't blame someone else for what is suppose to be your responsibility

3. Love yourself and stay away from the victim role, this in itself will build on your own confidence

4. Always be kind and hold your head up high, no matter what the people may say, negative minded people will always feel that you are better then they are because they haven't learned to love themselves, perhaps they could learn a thing or two from you

5. It is okay to love yourself, be kind, humble and confident at the same time, confidence isn't rude, she's wise, discerning, decisive and knows and understands her surroundings. Don't drop your head but lift it higher as others will then begin to see your inner beauty and stop focusing on your outer beauty, your light will begin to resonate

6. Never judge someone by the color of their skin or the color of their clothing, there is a huge possibility that you will miss out on many of your blessings. We are all made beautifully different

7. Never be afraid to say no to something that could hurt or kill you

8. Never be afraid to set the example with positive re-enforcement

9. It's okay to receive a compliment and give a compliment, just because someone is looking at you doesn't give your the right to curse them

10. Always be courteous to people at all times, no matter what the situation, perhaps you may be entertaining an Angel.

Talibah.... You keep me ENLIGHTENED... our youth are so important and it is just as important for our elders to pass on the knowledge not only to build bridges... but the highways, infrustructure as well. I was so blessed to have my grandparents through both my adult life and my oldest son... WE sit around sometimes talking about the Legacy my grandmother left behind and the values of hard work and education my grandfather instilled in his grandchildren... I only hope that I can be half the woman these two people used to be... OH then again Granddaddy did teach me how to box... BANG!! My oldest knows not to try me............HA!!! LLLLOOOOLLLOOOLL....

I kinda think that the most positive thing that can be said to youth is,

1. "the pants are worn over the buttocks for hygienic reasons."

2. "young ladies stay away from and do not talk to an individual that has not mastered the art of wearing pants."

3. "President Baraka Hussein Obama is an example of proper male pants wearing"

Hello Siebra,

How am I to quit when God has sent me to redeem a bunch of ignorant people, my Black American people.

Suppose Moses had quit when one of his ignorant Hebrew people said to him Moses, Moses, Moses you just never seem to quit do you, would the Hebrew people have ever Exodus Egypt? Of course not, so why do you ask me to give up on you and the rest of our people?

For example, Ms. Bakhit believes my comments because I make more sense than she does and at the same time, she says that she is praying for me. Now, how crazy is that? If she were sincere about praying for me Ms. Bakhit would not be deleting my comments. She cannot say that I am wrong. She knows I am right and that is why she deletes my comments. It shows her jealousy, which is one of the problems of Black Americans that holds us down. We do not want to think one of our own could be better than we are, am I right. That was the case when Cain killed his brother Abel.

Tell me what you think.

Thank you, Talibah!

"FOOLS SENSE OF DISRESPECT" is a great title for the endless list of ridiculously insignificant behavior that someone who is insecure will pick up as a personal affront.

Whenever someone says "You disresepcted me" because of a small slight, they might as well be hollering: "I DON'T FEEL POWERFUL AND CONFIDENT OF MY OWN WORTH UNLESS I BRING YOU DOWN."

And the stupidity of it is--bringing someone else down does nothing to lift anyone else up. It means two people have fallen.

There are programs and curriculums promoting conflict resolution that are successfully used in schools that teach the truism that self respect starts with respecting others.

It teaches resolving conflicts in ways that lift the spirits of both parties. It looks to find solutions when everyone can claim a win.

Anyone who deals with insecure adolescnents knows the serious need for building self confidence.

So, again--this is some great advice. I hope we can spread it around.
