The Queen's Chair: School's Out For Summer (119 hits)

This morning, no 5 a.m. alarm clock went off. I didn't help anyone with homework. Didn't sign a permission slip. Had no heads to braid or curl. And didn't have to do a time check to make sure my little one caught the bus. The last day of school was Tuesday and I couldn't be happier.

I got a good night's sleep. I ate breakfast, started writing on my blog again, and will work on my garden later this week. I'm letting the girls sleep in this week because my oldest gets shipped off to a church camp for teenagers on Sunday. We are attending a friend's graduation ceremony on Saturday. Then my youngest and I will attend a Bible-study camp and check out a few movies.

The new house rules have been laid out because I work from home. No TV on before 11 a.m. No friend calls before no. During my writing meetings, they have to be quiet. They make a mess, they clean it, and chores have to be done before they EVEN think of playing outside. Just because it's their vacation doesn't mean it's mine.

So far, the kitchen has been cleaned, the garbage is gone and we are working on respective bedrooms. I'm working on my porch to spend more time on it, the library has become a third home for everyone when it comes to internet usage and books on cd and there are planned trips to festivals, the museum, the planetarium, the water park, my hot air balloon ride, and day trips.

I have my reading materials planned out. Finishing hanging baskets this weekend. Catching up with friends and family. A few house projects. Working on the next book. I just want to enjoy the summer sights, sounds food, and season. I love this time of year.
