WHAT YOU SEE?
Recently if you've watched the news or the inter-net, even magazines you've come across a little plump-faced Indonesian boy who is a ravid chain smoker. The toddler lights his own cigarettes and smokes at least 2 packs of the cancer sticks a day. But.. what about our own Black children? Blacks are known examples of taking up the smoking habits. It is certain we have children that smoke cigarettes. How then can this little Indonesian boy whose culture is filled with the poor be such a surprise to anyone? The tobacco industry cares very little about who's puffing on their products. Everyday there is another Black youngster opening their first pack to indulge in the smoking habit. These are our own children.
Since much has been done with the limited advertising of cigarettes in Black neighborhoods the visual aids are very few. This attempt to show less ads hasn't been proven that it's actually working. Since younger Blacks are still faced with peer pressures, stress and adaptability in what they may feel is becoming to adulthood they pick up the packs and smoke. Is this a failing living situation when our young children smoke? Black adults --some often do not discourage youths from smoking, nor do they encourage. Instead, so many adults only watch -- never saying anyhing to deter their smoking ; or other any bad-habits they are using.
I've heard many adults exclaim: "Don't do what I do, do what I tell you to do." When they are ones drinking, smoking and have socially unworthy habits. What are many of us telling our youths? "What you see is what you get." The little Indonesian child sees smoking as his natural habitat. It is no suprise he smokes when so many in his culture are smokers.
IS WHAT YOU GET?
This can begin with you..discourage youths from costly life habits that are unhealthy. Show an example of discipline and no matter how small you feel your contribution may be, let them see the positiveness you live. Give and advice them to resisting habits that shorten their lives. One day they will see the picture of young children who have become habit free. "You are what they''ll see; and they'll get what you'll leave in their eyes."
I'm just blowing out some bubbles...OOOOOO...ooo
"What you see, is what you get."
Bubbles are clear.
ON A CLEAR DAY...YOU CAN SEE ....FOREVER!
This blog is finished.
