Boy, are my kids playing the Summer Vacation ticket.
They sleep in late. Stay up late. I don't get to see TV and foods is disappearing faster than Houdini pulling a rabbit out of his hat. They are constantly reminding me that this is their summer vacation.
I'm constantly reminding them that I still have to write and that I have a routine. Great, it is summer vacation for them, but not for me. Chores still have to be done. The mom taxi service is slowing down. Household repaires need to be completed. These days, snacks (theirs and mine) can't stay in the house long enough and I have to battle my teenager for phone usage. So I had to lay down the law...again.
No phone calls from friends before noon. If you use something, put it back in its place. Take out the trash on Tuesday. Clean up after yourself. When I writing/reading, don't disturb me. And they have to be quiet when I'm doing phone interviews. My work mood ends at noon. Seems simple.
It's not. There are always distractions. Always sisterly fights and siblings always battling for the TV. Awwwwhhh...I can't wait for August. Just one more month till school starts. Love my children, but love my sanity even more. Share
