TESTIMONY OF FAITH IN CHRIST: YOU KNOW THAT I KNOW, YOLANDA ADAMS (809 hits)

This is for anyone who feels he has the authority to comment on Christian theology, spirituality, faith, scripture or any other aspect of Christ's teaching even though he has not experienced it for himself and does not understand it and has no idea what he is talking about--and yet somehow, he expects us to take him seriously.

If you have any dispute or obection to the teaching of Christ, take up your argument with Sister Yolanda.

My challenge to you: take the time to experience her performance. Feel the power of HER faith. And know that she sings for millions of Christians of all colors, creeds, nationalities and people groups all over the world. Here is a real, deep, heartfelt, soulfull witness to the power of Christ.

This is not meant ot convert you or persuade you that Christianity is better than your religiion. I would like you to continue practicing your faith as best you can.

My intention is to show you the undeniable power Christian faith has on those who follow its teachings.

My request is for you to respect the deep faith of others just as you would like others to respect YOUR faith.

For Christians, her song is absolutley true. We know it in our hearts and we are inpsired by it.

I do not expect a non-Christian to understand or have the same response. But...please don't criticize what you don't understand.

And please don't offer comments about something that is out of your realm of experience.

Why not teach us about your faith? You can speak about your own religion with more insight, intelligence and depth. You might be able to enlighten us about a glorious, ancient religion!

So please--comment if you wish, by all means. But, at least, watch the video first. And offer your comment on that.

Thank you!

OFFERED IN PEACE AND WITH LOVE!!!

YOU KNOW THAT I KNOW
Yolanda Adams

Lord, you've been in my shoes before
You already know what's up
You've been rejected by those closest to you
You've even drank from life's bitter cup

You know what it's like to be denied
And to have tears swimming in your eyes
Sometimes, I want to hold up my hands
But I know you have a plan for me

(Because I told you)
I will be your everything
To me all your troubles bring
For me I want you to sing
You know that I know

I assure you I'll be there
All your burden I will bear
I'll let you know that I care
You know that I know

Lord, you felt what I feel
You know that the pain is real
Those who were there that said they loved you
Turned their backs when you needed them
But I must say

You have never let me down nor forsaken me
You would always pick me up when the world would fall on me
I can trust in your every Word
Your Voice, I hear You, I know I heard you tell me, say

I take a stand and hold my ground
For in me true love is found
I will always be around
You know that I know

Even when you heart is breaking
When it seems to much to take and
Even when your soul is aching
You know that I know

Even when the world is cold
I'll be there your hand to hold
Trust me, love me, and be bold
You know that I know

Noone else can give you more
Blessings for you are in store
I will never ignore you
You know that I know

I will be your everything
To me all your troubles bring
Girl, I want you to sing for me
You know that I know

Hello to All,

If Mr. Kigel had, any sense he would not have had used a Black person to represent his feelings about the White man’s Christian religion to a Black audience especially since Mr. Kigel is White. All that Mr. Kigel is doing is making a mockery of our ignorance since Whites are the ones that forced Christianity on our ancestors. Mr. Kigel would have use an American White woman to represent their own Christian religion since White Americans are the ones that forced their Christian religion on our ancestors during slavery. Had Mr. Kigel use a White woman he would have been up right and honest.

Black Americans are not a part of White Americans. Chinese people are not a part of Japanese people. Arabian people are not a part of Black Americans. We are all people in the great big pool of humanity with love and respect for each other as human beings. However, we are our own people. God is going to make Black Americans their own people with our own country.

All that Mr. Kigel is doing is showing how uninformed Black Americans are to wisdom and intellectual rationale. If you all had any intelligence, as well, you would want your own religion and your own prophet from God. You will would not what White America has given you. Are not you Negroes tired of White America giving you everything? White America has educated you. White America has given you the bottom of the line healthcare. White America feeds you. White America clothes you. White America tolerates your presence in their country. Again, are not you Negroes tired of White America giving you everything? When will you Negroes desire to have your own?

Damn, it came a time that the children of Israel desired to have their own. They no longer wanted support from Pharaoh and the Egyptian people, am I right. Now, you so-called Black Christians know that the comparison and contrast that I am drawing with the children of Israel is true. The children of Israel came to desire their sovereignty from Pharaoh. What is the Exodus except the sovereignty of the children of Israel, am I right. When will you Negroes come to desire your sovereignty from White America?

We have our own prophet as the children of Israel had Prophet Moses. Consequentially, you know that God is with us as God was with Moses and the children of Israel. Am I making any sense with you all?

White America did not give Islam to the Arabian people! White America did not give Prophet Mohammed to the Arabian people! Then why should Black Americans accept the faith and Christian religion of White Americans? It is their religion and it is what they voluntarily have accepted for themselves going all the way back to Constantinople. On the other hand, they forced Christianity on our ancestors, which were then passed down to us.

When are you Negroes going to wake up? Why you Negroes do not want something of your own directly from God? Something like what happened with the children of Israel. What they got was something directly from God. However, they first had to give up what Pharaoh had forced on them for 430 years. Likewise, you are Negroes have to give back Christianity to White America in exchange for our sovereignty on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders to worship God and pursue life, liberty, happiness and prosperity in our own way!

Again, have Mr. Kigel bring a video of a White woman to represent Christianity since Christianity was their religion before be forced it on our ancestors. Am I asking for something wrong? I do not think so!

Black Americans religion is LIFE and God has given us the religion of LIFE.

Tell me what you think.

A PERSONAL STATEMENT:

I have to admit I was highly concerned about what kind of response this post would receive.

The aim, my whole purpose is presenting this beautiful witness of faith is NOT to pump up or cheer lead for my own faith--which is Christian--but for FAITH ITSELF!

We have a real mix of faiths and traditions in this commuNity. Moslty, folks are respectful of each other and their individual faiths.--AND WE GET ALONG JUST FINE.

BUT...as so many others have pointed out before me, there is way too much RELIGION BASHING in this community. ONe person who follows a particular faith posts scripture or relgious commentary from a tradition he does not follow based on his own limited understanding and experience.

Always, it is done as a criticism, to present that religion in a highly negative light. Clearly, the motive is to persuade us to give up OUR religion and join HIS religion.

It, it seems to have the opposite effect. When somebody challenges your faith you get your back up and send the negativity right back.

There is no conversation less productive or insightful than an argument on which religion is better or worse.

I am sure every one on this site will agree that the single most violent, murderous insidious, destructive force on earth is religious INTOLERANCE.

This blog is dedicated to RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE.

My hope is that we can all agree to accept each other's faith and celebrate our differences.

The most important thing is the FAITH itself.

So I am deeply gratified that so far, folks have accepted this blog so positively.

I am hoping that everyone will agree from here on out to be more respectful of each other's faith.

Celebrate and Witness your own faith, by all means.

But nobody should be bringing down somebody else's faith--because it is disprespectful and counter productive.

That is my personal statement.

PEACE TO ALL!!!

Hello to All,

I understand the sentiments of all of you. Firstly, you all sentiments confirm the good job White America has done destroying the analytical and thinking abilities of you Negro slave people.

Let me give you an example of your poor analytical thinking. White America forced their slave people to accept Christianity. Now, we all know that is true no matter how dumb you all are, am I right. In the process White America killed, mutilated, instilled fear and topped it off with psychology the world has never seen before with the legend of the Willie Lynch letter. Okay, what I have just said you ghettobilly Negroes know that I am not lying.

Now, you same Negroes clutch and cling to Mr. Kigel (White America). You all love White America because you all have the mentality of a trained animal, which is the wrong kind of love that you have. You all should love White America as an equal human being, but because of slavery it is not possible to love as a human being because you do not have the essence of a really human beings yet. Again, you all love as a dog would love its owner, am I right. Mr. Kigel does not want to see any of you all having an independent and sovereign life. Mr. Kigel supports your subjugation, poor health care, poor education etc. So, are you not all doing what you were beaten, forced and psychologically trained to do, as a circus trainer would train a once wild Tiger to jump through flaming hoops?

In other words, you all are not acting any different than you were train to do. Therefore, none of you surprises me. However, three generations from now our children will not be as ignorant as you all are.

For example, the rap singers today are not as ignorant as the rock ‘n roll and doo-wop singers were. Today’s rap singers make hundred times more money than the doo-wop singers did because their analytical thinking is much better than the doo-wop singers were. Our future generation are going to desire to become a sovereign people on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country with borders, something we should all be desiring if you all have any damn analytical thinking abilities.

You have enough sense to know that many ignorant children of Israel clanged to the Egyptian people and Pharaoh against Moses. Pharaoh over 400 years had dumbed down the children of Israel just as you Negroes on this blog are dumbed down. I am sure that you all have enough analytical thinking ability to understand my point, am I right.

Let me give you another example of how uninformed you all are. Mr. David Johnson said this, “HARRY CAN I REALLY TELL YOU WHAT I THINK!”

Now, that Mr. Johnson wants to rip me to pieces because I said the truth. He failed to realize that I was not the one that put him in slavery and made him dumb. It was White America (Mr. Richard Kigel) that did this to him and all Black Americans. If Mr. Kigel was up right and had Black America’s best interests at heart, he would encourage you all to become a sovereign people since God has intervened in our affairs to free us as God intervened in the children of Israel’s affairs to free them from the grips of Pharaoh. Mr. Kigel would encourage you all to listen to me!

Thanks Rich, this happens to be one of my favorite Yolanda Adams songs. I have a few of her songs added to my BIA profile page. I had the opportunity to meet Yolanda in person at the 2000 Teen Summit sponsored by the New Orleans Public that she performed for. The theme of this years teen summit was "Open Your Heart" named after one of her albums. Yolanda was one of the guests, and even though the event was basically for junior/senior high school students I knew I had to participate in the summit cause I always loved me some Yolanda Adams!

We purchased the tickets and over 50,000 junior/senior high school students attended the event where the students debated on subjects such as teen pregnancy, violence, and improving community involvement in the schools, and offered free reading material, T-shirts, CD's, and schools supplies to the students.

During the long break Yolanda was recieving fans in the Louisiana Superdome by signing autographs and such, talking and smiling with the participants. She was a bit tired, but none the less looked GREAT! (I might add). My friend and I were about the last people in line to recieve her. When we finally got to her she looked at our names and stood and greeted us with a WELL pronounced "As Salaam Alaikum". She gave my friend and I the embrace of a true Sister. Of course I stepped forward and gave her a real motherly HUG, because I was gonna get me a hug from Yolanda Adams!

We all had a great time. Her background as a former elementary school teacher was not a surprise to me, only that one of her relatives was a follower of the NOI was a surprise. It also is not a surprise because we know her songs always featured a very 'positive' and cultural message aimed at the youth. The same way Yolanda is gracious and humble in her music, she's even more gracious and humble in her interaction with us.

Anyway, that is my Yolanda Adams story.

Clark:

Thank you.

One of the reasons I posted THAT particular song of hers is that yesterday morning, on my way to church, I had it on my car CD player--and it just moved me to tears. The strength of her faith, the power and beauty of her voice--she is all real--was overwhelming to me.

I thouight about those folks on this site who like to tear down other's religions--and how unfortunate and unproductive and totally off base it is--and I thought--

ANYONE WHO HAS AN ARGUMENT WITH CHRISTIAN FAITH NEEDS TO LISTEN TO THIS...

She's for real.

Right, Siebra.

You have been a model for religious tolerance and mutual respect on this site, in my book. Often you share your own religious teachings and teachers--your posts from Minister Farrakhan and others--and I have to say that I have gained a lot and learned a lot from his talks. He opened my eyes to the simple fact that the media caracature of him is totally wrong. After viewing some of the talks you shared here on this site, I was impressed by his spirituality, his compassion and surprised by his respect for the Bible.

So I believe that it is true--and much better--when people of different faiths share and witness with respect for each other.

It has made me a better person.

And Cynthia...

Thank you for your kind words. What you say really means a lot to me.

And I really do feel like part of a larger family.

I really do love you all!!!

And I think at the heart of it is MUTUAL RESPECT. It is a supportive family that works to build each other up rather than knock anybody down.

And that makes everyone stronger!!!
