For years Fox News has used lies, distortions, and race-baiting to divide America. They’ve accused the first Black president of being a racist.1 They advanced a ruthless smear that cost Shirley Sherrod her job.2 And now Fox host Glenn Beck says he will “reclaim”3 the legacy of the civil rights movement by holding his “Restoring Honor” rally on the same day and place as Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.4

Recently, it's gotten dangerous. Last month, a heavily armed man got into a gun fight with police after he was pulled over on his way to kill people at the Tides Foundation5 — a non-profit that was little known until Glenn Beck repeatedly demonized it, claiming it to be the center of a great conspiracy.6 Last year, Kansas doctor George Tiller was gunned down while at church7 after Bill O'Reilly called him a Nazi, a "baby killer," and warned of "Judgment Day."8

Fox is a poison, and it spreads and is legitimized partly through public TVs. It's why today we're launching Turn Off Fox -- the first part of a larger campaign to diminish the influence of Fox. It's about getting Fox turned off in stores, restaurants, and other public places.

You can help by declaring your own a household "Fox free" and at the same time appealing to public establishments in your community to stop playing Fox. It takes just a moment, and you'll get a FREE Turn Off Fox sticker when you do.

Some people watch Fox at home because it reflects their view of the world; but there are others who see it on TV in public places and assume that it's legitimate news. Fox News is often on in bars, restaurants, airport lounges, stores -- appearing to be real news, while spreading lies and fomenting hate and division.

The goal of Turn Off Fox is to reduce the number of public TVs showing Fox News, while spreading the word about Fox's poison (and how it works) to those who don't know.

Signing up for the campaign is just the first step. We make it easy for you to tell us about businesses playing Fox. If you're willing to talk with them, we'll provide you with straightforward materials that explain why they shouldn't be a party to what Fox is doing. And if there are businesses you know that want to tell the world they would never play Fox, you can help them declare themselves a "Fox-free zone."

As businesses Turn off Fox and stand up as Fox Free, and as we encourage our friends and family to do the same, we'll help make clear, to people across the country, what Fox is about. And we'll reduce their ability to do harm.

I tried to address this issue with FOX NEWS CHANNEL too many times to count on this site. The reason why FOX NEWS CHANNEL is giving out these racial comments and stereotypes is because they think we will do NOTHING at all!! If we don't come together to bring a stop to this madness, the network will go on and on and they will believe this is acceptable.

We must demand respect for ourselves!! If we don't, we are going to end up where we were fifty years ago-Jim Crow Laws and Segregation. People don't have to say the "N" word or any other offensive word or phrase in order to be a racist. I understand people have a right to freedom of speech, but is unacceptable!!! FOX NEWS CHANNEL doesn't have the right to say these things, and it should be against the law! This racial comments and stereotypes have gone entirely too far and it MUST be put to an end!

While me and Shaunta from BlackWomenConnect.com was calling for the boycott against FOX NEWS CHANNEL there were some people who are for us and will participate in the boycott, some people were and still are against us, and some people who are for us but won’t participate in the boycott. Brothers and sisters, I hope you pay close attention to what I'm about to say because it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. This ain't funny so don't you dare laugh.

For years, African Americans were taught to be quiet and settle for what ever comes. We have been enduring so much in our path. Some African American are scared to speak when being victimized of racism and oppression. African Americans were holding their heads down when talking to a white person. To this day, African Americans are still suffering.

Now I read that some of you have been boycotting FOX NEWS CHANNEL. How? What is your idea of boycotting? Turning the television set will not SOLVE A DAMN THANG. “Not watching” is not going to SOLVE A DAMN THANG. With or without you ratings are still going to be the same! Some questions to the people who do not boycott: “How can you look at yourself in the mirror?” “How can you sleep at night?”

We came to far and accomplished so………DO NOT LET YOUR GUARD DOWN!!!!!!!! We must stay ahead of the game when it comes to standing up for ourselves. As for other people, it is very easy to plot and plan when you’re not looking or paying attention! It’s time to wake up! I read some comments on the internet written by other people asking how in the world can African Americans sit back and put up with this racism on this channel!

I couldn’t figure it out either. This is the trick brothers and sisters: If you don’t say anything, and if you don’t complain, they will keep on conducting their poisonous propaganda of hatred. Sometimes people do things just to see if they could get away with it. The way I see it, people do things that you ALLOW them to do. While Barack Obama is trying to bring people of all races as one, FOX NEWS CHANNEL is trying to tear people apart!

You are so right sista Siebra. I have not watched FOX since Senator Obama started running for the presidency and they started with so much propoganda. I've responded to discussions all over the network, but guess what they never post my responses and then wonder why some of the things are happening in the world. I've heard exactly one white man (a republican reporter) actually say that things that are going on is due to the president being African American. Even blacks on tv won't say that since our president came into fruition, that he has brought racial prejudice to the forefront. The haters are coming out the woodworks including the congress and senate. Every body else is simply beating around the bush, saying we are post racial, Ha!. I moved to the south where racists are openly racist and blacks still put their heads down and are scared to respond. Its amazing, so yes I will send in my letter to FCC and hope our voices will be heard. Further more every comment that has something significant to say like yours I forward to every network I am a member of and thanks for being observant and a mouthpiece for the people.

I agree brother Clark, and don't forget the millions of donations to the GOP every year. Wonder what thats all about. They say the insanely rich don't ask for what they want, they pay for it, and even though I agree with you and Sista Siebra, I also realize that a small voice like Color of Change against a big conglomerate like FOX doesnt stand a chance, even though Im behind them, unless some bigwig get on board. Fox and its subsiduaries have been around, when others are gone. I remember buying the post every morning on the ferry on my way to work, and you better believe everyone still does. They have their hands in everything in NY along with the Mayor. Makes you wanna holla!
