There is something to be said for the power of girlfriends and the unique bonds we women form. On a bad day, I know my best friend has my back. l can whine, complain, and laugh...she gets it.
As a mom, a sister, a daughter, and a writer, I sometimes struggle balancing my work and play life. It was easier back in the day when I was single. I was only responsible for myself. Sometimes, I pushed my friendships aside for a while until the "crazy" times passed.
As I get older, I rely on them more. According to medical experts, that's a big "no-no" for women. There's now a proven medical link that spending time with your girls shows the critical importance of having lasting and long friendships. These friendships, according to a UCLA, help us live longer. These friendships, the report says, the more close friends, women have the less likely we are to suffer from some chronic diseases, accidents, and psychological impairments.
Girlfriends are good for our heart and soul. They help us reduce the effects of stress on the body, protect us against illness, and help us heal when we get sick.As women, women connect and celebrate friendships through celebrations. It can be as simple as a Girl's Night Out or a Spa Day.Laughter extends a life by seven years.
If that's part of a good health plan, I'll be giving my best friend a call today. Wink
