Black Americans love to get together for FUNERALS: Death brings them together ! (658 hits)

Jesus died for our sins, supposedly. Jesus was crucified on the rugged cross so that we might live, supposedly. Now, Black Americans hold large gatherings over funerals. It seems that since so many blacks are dying that funerals have become an event for socializing. Funerals have become an activity for reaquaintances. Death leads while living blacks lag. This, seems to me needs to be turned around.

I feel you on this post brother!!! It seems like the only time we as Black people come together in unity is during weddings, parties, and funerals, and football games, yet cannot come together to accept responsibility to curb the drugs, racism and violent crimes in their communities. This... must... STOP!!!

death/funerals is the time for loved ones to gather to honor - pay their last respect to their lost loved one..

No problem with the point of funerals, but, it is the frequency of them among blacks in America which are alarming.

The funeral is the last good bye. Nobody loves to go to funerals. Where did you get that?
How much do you know about your Indian and African heritage? I used to think that funerals were over done and some of them may be but I came to realize the necessity of them. If there was no closure, the business will be unfinished. You went to the pyramids, would you say that the burial practices then were over done?

In those days death was not a "norm" but rather an "adnorm", making the flamboyance in death more understood. Imagine people like Methusala and Noah living past 500 years. Blacks individually on the average lived longer back 2000 years ago when many of the great Pyramids were built.
