The Queen's Chair: Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself (605 hits)

Over the weekend, I checked out Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself. It's not one of his better movies. This film follows the story of a single woman April (Taraji P. Henson) who is a nightclub singer who has no room in her heart for three children (who happen to be her niece and nephews). They meet her after a failed robbery attempt at Madea's house. (Tyler Perry)

I got to tell you newcomer Hope Olaide Wilson (who plays Jennifer ) is incredible in her acting debut. She brings such a range of depth and talent to the role as a teen forced to be a grown up before her time.

Mary J. Blige is a nice surprise to the film in both her singing and acting as well as Gladys Knight. And actor Adam Rodriguez was absolute wonderful in his role as the tenant in her building that breaks Henson's character's tough shell.

Perry's script is a little too predictable, but if you don't have anything to do on a Sunday afternoon, it's not a bad way to spend your time.

I love all of Perry's movies, but I'm a little disappointed that he didn't exercise more creativity and imagination in this movie. I'll go see it anyway instead of waiting for it to come out on DVD just to show my support for the movie. Thanks again for the review.
