FASHIONS FROM THE PAST...COMING BACK!! (292 hits)

When was the last time you saw a Dashiki, or a Zoot Suit? Perhaps you're already noticing bell bottoms and those zigs and zags of African fabrics making their way back on the scene. Right now, African styles are returning in association with the all Black American hairstyles of the Afro. These are the looks of the 1970's... Hope you have your Afro-sheen.

What has inspired these fashions to return? Is it the economy.. or the new back to the past Black connection? Look for it... cause the wave of these clothing will be selling like hot pink or zebra print... I expect the trend just might come and go...but at least it just could be an end the era of "Pants on the ground."
Hay...it's cool! I'm "Old school"
I think I saved a few old pieces and that's vintage now.
"FIGHT THE POWER!"

Good Post Sis...it's cool to be 'old school'...my mom always tells me to never throw any of your prints away...you never know if and when it may come back in style!!!

That's unusual because I have been into African fabric for quite a while and I've found most Blacks seem to shy away from it.

Siebra your mom is right...everything old is new again so save those few pieces & when they go out out style, they do somehow return even with a little difference....except yours will be more authentic from the time.

Helen I don't know why some Blacks lost interest in those beautiful colors...it could be a new generation that wanted to change it. It'll always be a great style factor to me which is why I still have a few pieces from the era.

I kind of welcome it..and I hope others will too.
