Back Maintenance (1295 hits)

As I write this article, I'm hearing my late husband Ben speak to my spirit, saying "I've been saying this to you all along, now do it". And guest what readers; I'm back on the wagon. Enjoy. This is from: Healing Secrets From the Bible by Dr. Patrick Quillin.

The nervous system is at the core of our bodily functions.

The spinal cord is the extension of the brain, providing us with muscular movement and organ functions.

The spine can have alignment problems, due to poor posture, the constant pull of gravity, aging, accidents and falls, atrophied muscles, and obesity. We need to keep the back strong, supple, and properly aligned; which then allows the spinal column to properly direct the functions in our organs, skin, and muscles.

What to Do: Develop muscles in your neck and back region through regular exercise.

One of the best exercises is simply to hold on to a bar that is soundly anchored above your head and let your body weight hang.

This procedure will help the spinal vertebra to stretch out and avoid crimping nerves that radiate from the spinal region.

Wear shoes with good support in the arches. Choose your bed and chairs with care, since furniture helps to shape the back.

Maintain good posture while sitting.

For a few minutes at the end of each day, lay on the floor with your lower legs (calf) resting up on a footstool.

This position helps your lower back.

See your chiropractic physician at least once each year, and more if needed.
