The educational system was designed by John Cotton from Massachusetts in 1650. The purpose was to teach obedience. Do not disrupt the status quo. If we ccontinue to exclude the family, we will exclude the main engine of education. The family is the root of educating the future citizens. They need to reclaim their children and strengthen family ties. Special interest groups and pre-empted air time should be limited. They need to teach values and not to be a parasite on the community. Teach life lessons. Martin Van Crevald said," Education was designed by those who love big business..." " ...there is a movement toward secularization and ... appetite for discipline of the unruly, independent masses..." ...unruly, independent educated masses...might resist the government...." There are 10 signpost of failure: ---educational chaos... ---lowering standards... ---turning out functional illiterates. Since 1983, 25 million young men and women have reached the 12th grade without knowing U S Hiistory. 20 million cannot read we are ranked 19th-20th in science 77% of 4th graders scored below average on the national assessment 1959. 30% first time freshmen enrolled in at least one remedial class. In 2007, There were 17 sections of zero level English classes our of 600 freshman. 60% of those and more than one zero level class. This was a study done by Paul Soglin and Thomas Mertz. There is more!!!!!!!!!!

Mozell, I was very excited this past summer at the possibility of teaching in one of Philly's underserved schools. This would have been through the Philadelphia Teaching Fellows, by means of accelerated training in education (6 weeks). However, I want to teach computer science, and they needed me to teach middle school remedial math. Well learned math 30 years ago, and would have had to do remediation on myself first. And they don't teach computer science in these schools. So here's where I'm at. I need to take a Master program in Secondary education. So maybe in a couple years I'll be acceptable to them. Never mind I have 25 years as a professional Software Engineer. Now say I get my Masters and certifications. I still would not be able to teach in an inner city school, because they have no Computer Science positions! They don't even have them here in West Chester, which is not inner city. In answer to your question, I will continue to do whatever I can as an individual. If I was an administrator and not an engineer, I'd start my own damn school.

Hello to All, Black Americans should not want and do not want any people other than ourselves to educate Black Americans. Therefore, the first thing Black Americans should be wanting is to be a sovereign people on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country. Black Americans want no less than what God did for the children of Israel when they were in bondage in Egypt. Am I asking for to much or are you ignorant Blacks wanting too less? Tell me what you think.

Mozell, true the binary numbers are the starting point for learning programming. But what I don't understand is why calculus is still taught in high school but not computer science, which is without a doubt more useful than calculus, for a majority of students. Calculus is used in relatively few professions, while computers are used everywhere.

Sister Thomasena, as a school administrator I say the number one cause for most of the failures in public education is due to society and how the media views us. Every study has shown that when a society becomes more affluent, comes out of poverty and has more educational opportunities, that birth rates go down, not up. What this means is that even the problem with overpopulation would be solved by eliminating the amount of enormous poverty and ignorance in the world.

Hello to All, How ignorant of a people are you all to be wrestling with this same problem that Mr. Fredrick Douglas, Rev. Al Sharpton and the NAACP has tangled with through our 500 years existence in White America that you dummies could think you all have the answers? Poor ignorant Black Americans. The only permanent solution is that we desire to become a real people to have and do things for ourselves. Therefore, me must become a sovereign people on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country. Am I making any sense? Egypt did the same to the children of Israel. It took the coming of God and Moses to put a stop to the foolishness of the children of Israel, am I right. The has begun to happen for us. God and myself is slowly putting a stop to the foolish thinking of Black Americans. We must desire to become a sovereign people on a portion of this continent that we could call our very own country. Then and only then will of problems be permanent solve! Am I making any sense? Tell me what you think.

Poverty issues have always been an issue. in the Black Community. Black America educated more poor people than anybody else. Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver, Frederick Douglass, Maggie Lina Walker, Madam C. J. Walker, Maya Angelou, Fannie Lou Hamer, and Oprah Winfrey just to name a few. It all boils down to values and independence. What happened to them? Have you seen the movie, Waiting For Superman? We all need to see it and then decide what our role is in putting our own society together,

"I" believe we must put power back into those who teach our children, because the more rights the students get the more they use them to self distruct...we say they are too young but we have allowed them to make the rules by which the adults in our educational system ust follow!!!!!!!! (nup) Thes people spend more time with our children than we do, anyone ever give this any thought on who it is taht are really raising our children in the first place?!? Between, school, with their friends, texing you, the tv, the computer, ect. how much time do we actually spend with them if we have sit down meals together ?!?
