Woman busted for setting boyfriend's crotch ablaze

If the John Wayne Bobbit story has taught men anything, it's to never fall asleep with an angry woman nearby.

But a Fort Lauderdale man whose angry girlfriend allegedly set his crotch on fire apparently doesn't know the Bobbit story.

Sheldon Gonzales said he was asleep on his couch Tuesday night when he was suddenly "awakened by a burning sensation in the crotch of his pants," according to a report from the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Standing over Gonzales was girlfriend Berlinda Dixon-Newbold, cigarette lighter in hand.

Gonzales quickly realized the bottom of his shirt, which was laying over his crotch was on fire. He was able to put out the small blaze with his hands, police said.

When Gonzales tried to leave, Dixon-Newbold confronted him at the door and a "heated argument" broke out. A neighbor called police, who showed up and arrested the 38-year-old woman for aggravated assault.

Dixon-Newbold was being held on $6,500 bail.

It's more so " Brothers if you continue to disrespect, take for granted and hurt your woman with your inappropriate behavior of cheating and things of that nature. She may become a woman scorned and there is no telling, what she may do". She is wrong for how she handled this situation, no doubt about it. He does not get off easy for creating an environment that caused this woman to feel it was necessary to do something like this.

Yes brothers need to check themselves and that is without question. Yes there are consequences for the actions of all, be it positive or negative. Women were not put on this earth for some men to treat them as if they are suppose to accept and/or tolerate any and everything from them, as if a woman is some man's door mat to be walked on, stepped on, dragged through the mud emotionally and in some cases literally and actually expect her to just smile and say " It's ok, no problem". Then when she responds to the mistreatment the first thing some brothers want to say is " She is crazy".

Yes we laugh and joke about this, but this is serious violence. I'm sorry, but I think what the lady did was really horrible. How can you try to "light the jewels" ? If a man is cheating and you can't deal---- its time to walk. The lady is a nurse so its not like she can't make it financially. I don't feel any empathy, sympathy, or sentiment for her. If a man had done something like this--- Oh Lawd--- that's Violence Against Women.
