SHUTTLE THAT CHARTER RIGHT ON OVER..
12.22.2010
Memphis, TN

The Memphis City School Board has voted to surrender its city school charter to be adopted by The Shelby County School District. This means that if voted in an election by Memphians to proceed with the plans the City of Memphis will no longer be over jurisdiction of the Memphis City Schools. Memphis has two government formed, one a county government and the other city. Students in city schools will become part of the county schools services. Plans leading up to the hand-over were caused by recent money troubles and students in city schools poor gain of testing scores and learning skills. The City students are low in their academic scores as Shelby County Schools students have grown more productive in higher and better achievements in learning. Now the Board have voted to turn loose of their charter but the final decision will have to be decided by an voter’s election to be scheduled in January 2011.

Will the voters determine the future of the city students? That’s to be decided after Christmas vacation!
Sound like a real test!

NEXT!...our vacation takes us to…a Get-away-for kids!!!

ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO LIVE
AND RAISE CHILDREN
12.22.2011
Senatobia, MS

This week's Bloomberg Magazine name several cities and towns as the Best places to raise children. Senatobia, Mississippi was named as one of the best places in the country to raise little ones. The town of Senatobia is about 32 miles south of Memphis. Senatobia is replenished with quaint neighborhoods and small town feelings. There is a university there and the school system has also been one of best in its centralized location.

Congratulations to a real home! I'll take a vacation there very often!
That’s a great birthplace! Senatobia, MS and to be raised!

Have you written your letter to Santa yet?

SPELL "VACATION"…IN A LETTER That REMEMBERs
12.21.2010
Memphis, TN
*
40 years ago a woman named Mary Beth Wells was offered help through the Salvation Army. So taking up her pen Ms. Wells remembered to spell thank you in a letter of appreciation she wrote. Wells was then struggling with a bad relationship with her ex-spouse and had small children who had no way of receiving any kind of Christmas. Ms. Wells said that she had nothing to give them. Penniless the mother had to move in with her own mother decided to call The Salvation Army which came to her rescue with toys and food for her much needed situation. Three days before Christmas! Now 40 years later she insists that every time she passes the red bucket she’s one who gives. In her letter Ms. Wells gives many generous words and letters that spell out her heart-felt thanks. Taking no vacation away..Ms. Wells says she’ll remember their help as long as she lives!

What a super vacation Letter!!!
But…what vacation doesn’t have a little bit of woe to sow?

NEXT!....

HOLD ON TO THE STRING IN A STING!
HOW THE GRINCH STOLE what?
12.21.2010
Horn Lake, MS

Next time the Grinch comes to Horn Lake he’d better by pass the car wash. Horn Lake police has increased its patrol on the town local car washes. Lately a string of clever thieves have been ripping off the coin machines. The Horn Lake law authorities noted that they’ll be watching. Thieves have mastered the theft technique of connecting a string to a bill and yanking it out of the coin machine receiving the change but not delivering the bill. Thieves can retrieve the bill and the coins. Horn Lake police said that these thieves can collect up to $500 dollars worth of coins easily by ripping off the coin changers. With the increased robberies of the coin machine they have beefed up the patrol to catch a thief or thieves in the car wash.

“Those bad string men! Why the very idea of taking that little car wash coin machine for a case of indigestion! BAD! BAD! BAD! They are a mean one… Pick on something your own size!” $500 could lead them to a vacation behind bars!!
OOH...woe...Have You've been bad?

Let’s go on to the end of the ride…*

THE VACATION IS OVER WITH SPARE TIRES! *
Memphis, TN *
*

* Memphis has another opportunity to fight the blight of litter by bringing in those old tires for a $1.00. The City has another grant coming up of $50,000 to clean up the city of those old done for polluted tires laying aside streets and allies. The grant will come into effect early next year. The partakers of this grant will need to reside in Memphis, or Shelby County and can only receive a certain amount for each day’s visit for tire recycling. The grant has been used twice this year, and was a tremendous success, however funding ran out sooner and some changes may be made in the process to make it effects last longer. If you see a tire laying around it’s soon to be worth a $1 toward a vacation for you...

AT LAST ...you'll find you’re in Hometown Memphis..the whole time!*
