Keri Hilson Tastemaker Event Aloft Harlem (video)!
Posted on December 24, 2010 by Harlem World
Tis a few nights before Christmas, and there were plenty of reasons to eat, drink, and be merry on Monday night (Dec. 20) at Billboard.com‘s first ever live Tastemakers event. In celebration of Aloft Harlem’s grand opening of the brand-spanking new property played host to a special performance by Keri Hilson.
Hilson’s set featured “Beautiful Mistake” and “Pretty Girl Rock,” two of the standout tracks from her sophomore album “No Boys Allowed,” which was just released today (Dec. 21). After her performance, the provocative R&B/pop songstress sat down after the show with Billboard.com to chat about the aptly-titled record, avoiding the rapper dating pool and her on-stage rendezvous with guest vocalist and friend Chris Brown.
“The men on this record represent the male point of view, and I’m not saying it’s always a good one, but it’s honest,” Hilson explained. “I wanted men to come and sound off, and that’s what they do.”
“I don’t do music about the façades and fronts about women,” she added. “I don’t do music to paint myself perfect. I do music that empowers women to be themselves against all odds.”
All this before her gig at Jimmy Jazz in Harlem. Check back for all three performances and full wrap-up from Keri Hilson’s Tastemakers sessions.
