Dear Steve, With the Holidays upon us, I know it is a hectic time for everyone. As I write you today, I'm preparing for my swearing-in on January 5 and putting the finishing touches on what will be an aggressive agenda for 2011, beginning with my plan to cut $500 billion from the budget. And, of course, I will be working closely with my Dad to pass a full-scale Audit of the Fed. In fact, it will be the first bill I introduce in the Senate. To accomplish our goals, Dad and I are going to need a strong grassroots presence to keep the pressure on. And I know we have no better friend than Campaign for Liberty. That's why I hope you'll read the letter from my good friend and Campaign for Liberty President John Tate. John is putting together an excellent program for next year to help in our efforts to take back our country. But he must have the support of good folks like you to help us achieve our goals. Thanks for all you do for the cause of Liberty and for your continued support of Campaign for Liberty. In Liberty, Rand

Brother Steve, Just on the surface, it seems that Rand has good intentions, but I have to keep following him to see what side he's (whether he's to the far left, in the middle, or to far right) on in the Tea Party.

Sister Jen, I'm a member of C4L, but what stops me from being a donor is rhetoric like "take back our country". Last I checked, the country doesn't belong to only one subset of the population.

Irma, though I understand the words "take back our country" in my own peculiar sense, it doesn't matter what my understanding of them is but rather the public perception. And I would say Rand Paul's biggest challenge is to stop using this and other divisive words/phrases. I think "republican" and "democrat" and "tea party" also need to go. But then what would the talking heads have to talk about?

You see, my focus is on issues, and first we need suitable words to put with those issues, if they have any chance at all of being resolved.

And as long as I'm rambling away, can anyone tell me what useful purpose "republican" and "democrat" serve? Do we profit at all by having political parties, or would we profit more without them? I think we could have a fully functional government without any parties at all.

amen-we are in The Greatest USA Governance 2011. I will, as a Republican, serve and attempt to empower The Governance of Our Democratic President Baraka Hussein Obama to the best of My ability and strength through 2016. I will, as an American, try to stop rambling and thinking of Billy Paul or RuPaul when the names Ron or Rand Paul are mentioned.

Ayn Rand, former Communist citizen, now there is someone we haven't discussed. I've read both Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead. If I didn't have such a long list of yet-to-be-read books, I would read them again. Ron is getting old, needs his son to carry on.

Interesting, I didn't know Rand was named after her. Here's a little cut-and-paste from Wikipedia. Ayn Rand (pronounced /ˈaɪn ˈrænd/;[1] born Alisa Zinov'yevna Rosenbaum; February 2 [O.S. January 20] 1905 – March 6, 1982), was a Russian-American novelist, philosopher,[2] playwright, and screenwriter. She is known for her two best-selling novels and for developing a philosophical system she called Objectivism. Born and educated in Russia, Rand immigrated to the United States in 1926. She worked as a screenwriter in Hollywood and had a play produced on Broadway in 1935–1936. She first achieved fame with her 1943 novel The Fountainhead. Over a decade later, she published her magnum opus, the philosophical novel Atlas Shrugged, in 1957. Rand's political views, reflected in both her fiction and her theoretical work, emphasize individual rights (including property rights) and laissez-faire capitalism, enforced by a constitutionally limited government. She was a fierce opponent of all forms of collectivism and statism,[3][4] including fascism, communism, socialism, and the welfare state,[5] and promoted ethical egoism while rejecting the ethic of altruism.[6] She considered reason to be the only means of acquiring knowledge and its advocacy the most important aspect of her philosophy,[7] stating, "I am not primarily an advocate of capitalism, but of egoism; and I am not primarily an advocate of egoism, but of reason. If one recognizes the supremacy of reason and applies it consistently, all the rest follows."[8]

As, someone who knows that Ron Paul would have never been given a chance to become a member of Congress had he not out racisted the next racist...I am willing to give Rand Paul a chance to do his job as a member of Congress....me, I am more worried about the lobby money than I am racism. It is just too bad that we today only expect our politicans to follow a written talking points...hell at least eh did not go into Black churches to get elected now that to me is pure racism, but it is like alcohol so socially accepted it is over looked how many innocent people of all races, genders, religions alcohol kills each day...say like today Dec. 31- Jan. 1????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? (N...u...p!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) great post Steve. (smile) in a few minutes it will be 2011 where you are, we stillhave 3 hrs to go...no reason to turn against the east coast because theyhave a different time zone. (otflmao) (smile) please give honesty a break for a change in this country. NUP!!!!!!!!!)

@STEVE THAT IS UP TO YOU...but, first most of us have got to unlearn that we can not get to tw unless we first start with one...and each of our political people got to D.C. one vote at at time... but to get someone out of office we must start with the individual as in you Steve being willing to set a goal of getting someone who abuses their office out...the laws on this already on teh legal books and all you have to do it make sure theyare enforced!...you already have a computer and I am sure that with the WWW. you will be able to put up a patition and get others to sign it as a start...are you willing to make the government work for you as it takes a lot of time and willingness to just get it started...so just try to know and accept the reality that we can not get to tow without first starting with one. (smile)

@STEVE, i STILL REAPECT RAND PAUL FOR SAYING WHAT HE BELIEVES AND NOT WHAT WILL PLEASE SOMEONE LONG ENOUGH TO GET THEIR VOTE... AND, I ALSO BELIEVE THAT EVEN IF HE WERE RUNNING AGAINST A BLACK PERSON HE WOULD HAVE NOT TRIED TO ABUSE SKIN COLOR TO GO INTO A BLACK CHURCH TO TRY AND CONVINCE THEM THAT HE IS MORE WORT-H THAT THE BLACK OPPONANT TO BE ABLE TO ATTEND A BLACK CHURCH OF THEIR C-H-O-I-C-E...AND, IF HE SAID HE HAD THE WHITE CATHOLIC VOTE IN PA. OR THE WHITE GUN TOTING MALES IN WEST VA. i HAVE NOT LEARNED ABOUT IT. (SMILE) PLUS, I BELIEVE IF THE BIRTHERS AHD TOLD HOW HILLARY CLINTON WAS ACTUALLY BORN IN CHICAGO...BECAUSE SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN UP SET AND LOST A FEW VOTES IF THIS T-R-U-T-H WAS KNOWN ABOUT HER. LOL (SMILE)
