The Queen's Chair: Would You Date You? (391 hits)

It's an important question to contemplate if your plans for the New Year involve beginning a new relationship. So what's your answer? Would you? Or are you still contemplating the question?

Think about how you would answer it. All men would say that they would debate themselves when asked. Women, that's a different story.

Are you a hothead? Pleasant to be around? Have you been told that your selfish? Spoiled or a crybaby? Do you treat others the way you want to be treated? Does your potential partner have to do everything you want?

I ask these questions to find out how serious and committed you are to this idea. Are you in the game? Or is this just something to do? Do you want a companion, a good friend, or a source for occasional s*x? It's the way some people think? Again, everyone doesn't define "dating" the same way.

Right now, I know that I'm not ready to date for many reasons. For starters, I need to spend time with my family, as I heal from a MAJOR illness and spend time rebuilding my family. Number two, there are things I still want to do: write a few more books, take a couple of trips, and spoil myself for at least two years or possibly go back to school. I just know I'm not ready. If I were ready, I'd date me.

As adults, we need to be honest. Men love with their eyes. Some women are looking for gold diggers. Like Sinbad said, "If you see a 50-year-old man with a 29 year-old woman, she doesn't love him. She wants your house and your money." Playboy Founder Hugh Hefner should take note of this. There is a 60-year gap in ages between him and his finance. He just gave her a $90,000 engagement ring. I know she's happy. So was Anna Nicole Smith.

Are you looking for happily-ever after? Or a Sugar Daddy? A constant source of income in a loveless marriage? Willing to put up with your crap? Only your heart knows for sure.

Know what you want in a relationship. If need be, write down what you're looking for as a reminder. Life is hard enough without settling. I'm asking the question, one more time, would you date you? Let me know.
