TENNESSEE TOWN SOUNDED SNAPS
FROM A POPPING FIRE!

Around 1:45 p.m. Central Standard time a local ammunitions plant in Oakland, Tennessee caught fire beginning with boom sound, and soon spread a fire throughout sections of the plant. The explosion caused casualty to one plant worker whose name was not released. After the fire spread so did the popping. The incident occurred at The Kinematics Research Plant which manufacturers of bullets, and weapons for law enforcement. Workers were evacuated from the plant as the guns and ammo let out continual sprays of bullets popping. A neighboring worker said he heard a boom and said “Not long after that there was a ra-at-tat-tat-tat and a pop! pop! pop pop!” Because of the relativity of the contents of the building, firefighters had to wait it out before quenching the fire. The actual cause of the fire is being investigated and was not known at the time of this story. The company had been in operation since 1992. Oakland, Tennesse is approimately 3,200 miles from Memphis.

Memphis Area Transit Authority was under a popping sound last night as one of their bus drivers was slightly injured when three popping sounds cracked the bus’s door on the route in North Memphis. The bus was near the corner of Hollywood and Chelsea around 10 p.m. The bus driver and 5 passengers on the night route said suddenly they heard a crashing sound through the door of the bus as three bullets crashed the window. The bus driver was slightly injured by flying glass, but none of the passengers were hurt. No one seemed to know where the bullets came from or saw any suspects in that shooting spree. The driver was reported in non-critical condition and is expected to return to work as soon as tomorrow night.
SNAP!...Many passengers depend on the bus take them to their destinations!
What?
Anyway…snap! and pop! but there’s crackling to come-- maybe?..

MEMPHIS SCHOOL CHARTER

The last few weeks has raided newspapers, and television news with the whereto and what to do about the Memphis City School surrendering it’s charter to the Shelby County School Districts. City School Board Members voted to surrender the charter last month, but since then the whole issue is more like air popped. Lately plans to have a voter’s election has been placed on the back burner until more legalities and plans are formulated to have an election date. Then too, local commissioner Sydney Chism has declared that if he’s to make a plan he will not include any input from neither the city or county mayors. Presently there is still a waiting to see if the issue will be presented again for the City Council to vote and see if they will be willing to put the school’s charter up to the Shelby County School District.
Snapping, popping, I just want to know isn’t it important for those students to have a good education? What a snap! The story keep popping up with new things every week!

MAYOR A.C. WHARTON GIVES
STATE OF THE CITY ADDRESS

Mayor Wharton gave his State of the City address this morning at the historic Peabody Hotel. The mayor addressed a crowd of about 300 guests. In his speech he pinpointed out his aim to destroy blight from the many mismanaged and deserted homes in many parts of the city. The mayor expressed that he would be sending out law suits if home-owners continue to neglect the up keep of their properties. The Mayor also stated that he was concerned with increasing new business opportunities for the jobless, and decreasing crime as well as working on ways of ridding the city of nuisances from unwanted night spots and night clubs.

Memphis has a new Elvis!...No it’s the other E.P. Edison Pena! Who's that?..He's The Chilean Miner from Chile. E.P. will make his appearance on 01.06.11 to visit Graceland and to take the VIP coach around town. He’ll have a $1,000 dollar spending spree at Lansky’s which one of the top men clothing stores, then on to SUN Recording Studios to be recorded singing one of his favorite Elvis songs…Suspicious Mind. All his trip is expenses paid. You may remember Mr. E.P. as the one of the Chilean miner's who loved to sing Elvis’ songs while trapped in the mine to give him motivation and motivation to the other miners. The Graceland Estates invited him to come to Memphis. He’ll find his way to Graceland finally..which has been one of his dream visits. He’ll arrive on Thursday morning. Pena does not speak English, but is able to sing Elvis songs in English. He’ll be accompanied by his translator. In addition, January celebrates Elvis' birthday and many visitors will soon be making their way to celebrate as they do each year.
