Great article! Thanks for sharing.
It will definitely help me to help as I mentor young girls/young women move away from stereotypes and entertaining as a life behavior, attitude, etc.

I love this! I'm going to past that article along, because it has really great points especially the one about how to avoid the below stereotype:
Stereotype: Unwed, baby-factories
Back in the day, I remember being asked how man kids I had right after I was asked my name. Many people especially Black women were shocked when I said none. It was like a strange thing. I mean did every Black woman have to have kids?

shucks, i remember stating i was married and the woman who asked nearly fell off the chair;
then another time i answered 3 children and was then asked, "is that all?"
I am amzaed at how many females WANT to bring drama, stereotypes into a brand new year!!!

Unbelievable! Why is that so hard to believe for some people? No one is going to fit a sterotype 100% of the time. I remember being asked by both Whites and Blacks if I worked another job, because I only worked part time. As if I have to "slave" to make ends meet. Being Black and working partime really throws alot of people especially when I throw in the tid-bit that I'm working part time becasue my kid is still young and needs me to be available.

@ Saint,
I believe in tearing down stereotypes and that's why I will continue to be who I wanted be and not who people think I should be. In many ways intergration did alot of harm to Black businesses, but nothing comes without a price, eh.
