A blogger brother of mine put this thought into my spirit a while back, and I've been wondering about ever since. Is it possible that there is a political middle ground where the black democratics and black republicans can meet? I admit that it has never occured to me to think along these lines. Since I first started voting, I naturally gravitated to the democratic party, because my parents were democrats. I have never done a study of the history of the democratic party as it concerns black people. I have just accepted the tradition that the Democratic party is for black folks and that theRepublican party is not. Maybe I'm wrong and there's more to it than those simplistic assessments?
Personally, I'm not big on politics. I can't find the strength to follow politics as it's presented to American people by the American media. To me, it's all just so much very public bickering over petty bs, and sneaky hidden maneuverings and dealings over the important stuff. We The People can't even be assured that our votes actually count, or are always being counted. And furthermore, even if they are being counted, there are so many loopholes and ways for the Powers That Be to slither out of their civic obligations to serve the people, and simply get over on us. Too often, we don't even know what's truly going on. At least I don't. So I admit that I have lost interest in all of it, and I also admit that I don't always vote. (Even though they always tell me how important it is for me to vote, and how my people struggled so hard for the right to vote. OK, but...) I still see too much disenfranchisement for black people and poor people andthese days even white people are being duped! So I don't get too excited about politricks.
