1st African American Women To Sit In The 5th Districts State Senate (1982 hits)

March is women's history month---a month that can not be ignored. Women have become some of the most prominent makers and the shapers of our nation--and world. It is a known fact that behind every successful man is an intelligent and virtuous women. Women have taken our country and world to a completely different level with the compassion and the motherly nature that she naturally carries. Annazette Collins, the first African American women to take on the position of Democratic State Senator of the 5th district has taken her seat, and wants everyone to know that the right choice has been made.

In a mild manner and down to earth tone Annazette says "I want people to know that we must work together to make our community great--I can't do it all by myself." Annazette is expected by the 5th districts constituents to fill the shoes of Ricky Hendon who has been the State Senator and hands on advocate for the 5th district for 18 years. Ricky, according to many in the community was one of the best State Senators that the 5th district has ever had. Several heads of community organizations say that Ricky made sure the the people were informed about the resources that were available to them. Ricky, which is the name that the community was familiar with traveled back and forth from Springfield to inform the people of the West side about the resources that were available to them and made sure that he made every Monday meeting in order to allow the community to understand his dedication to the community. With great shoes to fill, according to many community organization heads, they welcome the new State Senator but are looking forward to having a hands on relationship with Senator Collins as Senator Hendon had an open door policy and made sure that he met the concerns of the constituents of his district every Monday evening around 6PM.

Senator Collins says that she will be there for the people and is very much looking forward to communicating with the constituents by way of meetings, email, and by way the website that will be available in about 1 week. Senator Collins reveals that she told her committee men that she was interested in the position because she knows that she can help her district receive all of the resources that are needed in order to make the communities that are within her district a better place to live. Collins adds "There is much work and it is time to re-draw a map of my district," I am here to make sure that the 5th district has the same resources that every other district has---these resource entail good and affordable housing, good schools, good grocery stores, great businesses and entrepreneurial opportunities---people just want to live in good communities and feel safe."

Senator Collins ends by saying that she will be a hands on State Senator and when she is not around her district legislative aid Samantha will help take care of the constituents of the 5th district. Senator Collins knows that there is a great job ahead of her and she is open to new ideas and always looking for volunteers to help get the job done. Senator Collins wants her constituents to know that they can count on her to help them receive the resources that are needed in the 5th district and if anyone wants to contact her they can contact her at her district office at 259 N. Pulaski or call her at 773-533-0010 so that she can be at your service in order to help get a great job done in the 5th district. As the first African American women to sit as the 5th District State Senator Annazette Collins feels that she will be an example of positive change with the help of the people.

Hello Ms. Jen,

Why are you overwhelm to be in the world of White Americans doing what pleases White Americans instead of wanting to have your own country, government, Senators since you know you are not the same people as White Americans are. Do you not think that something is psychologically wrong with you?

What say you?

Harry why are you so toxic and negative, always looking for the hurt and harm in all things? If you just would try to change your thinking, life would change for you and you will see the beauty in all things presented to you--even if it's simply a learning experience from hurt. It's obvious that you are really hurting from something and I hope that you will find time to connect with God and your inner self to find peace so that you can stop attacking everyone. We are not out to hurt you but to raise awareness. Take time to endure the presence of positivity, beauty and love through prayer and meditation. God bless you Harry and I and many of your brothers and sisters are praying for you asking God that you may one day experience the bliss of beauty and perfect peace.
