On March 26 Pitches for Breakfast, an open mic forum for business and professional women of Pan-African descent (African, African American, Caribbean, and Latino). Attendees and participants will enjoy breakfast and network with smart people that are looking for ways to grow their career or business. Pitches for Breakfast takes place in the morning, representative of the fact that many corporate deals, strategic plans and strategic partnerships are developed or are secured at this time of day. The experience is safe and supportive, while providing an environment that is fun, yet results oriented, honest, and productive. Pitches for Breakfast is a forum that strengthens the power of the Black female business community. Pitches for Breakfast will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Dwyer Cultural Center located at 258 St. Nicholas Avenue.
Rochelle Hill, producer of Pitches for Breakfast, will deliver a hands-on workshop about the art and value of the 60-second pitch. After spending ten years working for Fortune 100 companies and marketing communications agencies, the New York native, opened her own firm, in Harlem in, 2004. Her workshop has been well received in the New York metropolitan area and has been requested for encore engagements. Hill shares, “Knowing to whom you should target your pitch, what to ask for, and what you have to offer, is key to business success and career growth.” As the president and chief strategist of a Harlem-based marketing public relations firm, that develops strategies for brands that include the National Black MBA Association, the New Orleans Brass Festival, and Essence Communications, Hill has honed her pitch skills from daily practice. “The workshop I developed will further the career of any executive, increase the bottom line for an entrepreneur, or even assist a student looking to land a job for the first time,” continued Hill.
Participants of Pitches for Breakfast will have 60 seconds to pitch their ideas, services, products, companies or themselves and receive honest feedback from a panel of senior executives from corporate, financial, marketing, human resources, career counseling, and other industries. The panel of judges is intentionally comprised of decision-making professionals who are not black women to reflect a “real-world” experience for the women who are pitching.
