Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month is now held every April, when publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries, schools and poets around the country band together to celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. Thousands of businesses and non-profit organizations participate through readings, festivals, book displays, workshops, and other events.

THE RECLAIMATION Several years ago I made a promise to myself I promised To Untame, To Rename and To Reclaim me Because after an experience of conflict and heartbreak I had forgotten my worth, my self and my beauty So I made this proclamation of reclamation To touch all the ones that I love divinely While making this proclamation of reclamation It has brought to me a new learning of me I’ve reclaimed my sass, my s*xuality, my spirit I have learned to like the razor edge of things I’ve learned that I can sing in front of a crowded room That my sunshine is sensations from joys to pains I’ve also learned that my halos can just as easily become Horns That I possess as much callousness as I do compassion That I can be as ugly as I can be beautiful, selfless and selfish That I can be brilliantly confident and needy of outside affirmation I learned years ago that I had miscalculated terribly I even had assumed that me and him had “arrived” I learned that this was just the beginning of being “me” And some things that I thought I loved about him I despised And what I see are other lines cast down From men and women who have gone before me There are ropes of knowledge and wisdom Challenge and growth all dangling in the breeze To continue on this everyday adventure That I am making out my life to be Will take way more than proclamations And more than believing and boasting It will take that discipline that I told myself Several years ago that I needed so badly I’m looking forward to new challenges before me The creations and catharsis they will bring me I am ready and I am committed And I’m not so afraid anymore Because there is nothing like getting your hands dirty to cleanse your soul

This one's for the grown and s*xy... THE UNION OF HUSBAND AND WIFE What is above the union of husband and wife A union of such is a heavenly right So sweet a union of life A union void of friction and strife Oh, that's a union blessed by The Most High Just the thought of such a union makes one cry To know your union is touch in such a way Will forever eliminate the need to pray What is above the union of husband and wife A union considered to be an exclusive right Joined at the head and hip, connected by the power of love Discharged in a single stream of might Awe, sweet heaven of pleasures and delight Such a union worthy of restoring a blind man's sight A union bringing the strongest man down to his knees And a humble man smiling with glee Such a union this is, even the enemy of God is pleased Who can separated God's union of husband and wife Woe to the surgeon using his finest surgical knife For what God put together, let no man put asunder Or you shall hear Mother Nature's warning Going into her bag of wonders Releasing the sounds of thunder What is above the union of husband and wife Why there is no math that can calculate such a height Silencing the words of mortals impressed Leaving them to make a shape or outline in the air So looked upon it causes ones to stare Wow God's union of husband and wife Is a union destined for a blissful life What is above the union of husband and wife A light that shines so bright Dispelling the darkness in the night What is between the union of husband and wife Space and opportunity for the rest of your life!

A DAY IS BORN Gray, blue, white shapes dancing in the cold morn it's a January's sky! Much like a summer's day.. only colder.... ..................and the winds CHILL is frosting on the grasses. No People are walking. Driving though. White smoke from the automobiles tailpipes form like clouds. A beauty of morn. It's today. God has given breath, God has given birth. A day is born.

I SEE... Life is precious and indeed purposeful, although the trails and tribulations may be, But it is also the measuring stick that proves my purpose and my destiny. I SEE... I must continue to focus on He the Almighty then and only then can I embrace what He has ordained in me. I SEE... In a moment in time, time of weakness the enemy (in me) will seek to destroy me. I use the statement "what no weapon formed against me shall prosper" to my ability. I SEE... My true friends never leave me alone although I may become lonely, yet the loneliness is a divine protection like a basketball player's jersey. I SEE... A community that I joined months ago, joined together and helps their fellow, and it's because of your love and kindness that always keeps me strong and mellow. I SEE... I never knew the love you had for me, until one day I thought about quitting. But I am no quitter I am a child of God whose will is to live life more abundantly. I SEE... Thank you to all Kings and Queens, for my youth you helped me to see in my moments of temporary insanity, Much Love to you from me!

Here's a poem I written with a very special friend in mind...no one on this forum has seen it until now... BECAUSE OF YOU By Sister Siebra Muhammad Im dangerously in love like Beyonce So you can be my Jay-Z Because they complete each other and baby...you complete me Theres nothing that I won't do It's all that I will do I would kill to feel you Feed you, please you Because you're the love of my life The key to my heart And we're inseparable There's no pulling apart I want you and my body needs you I'll ride for you die for you Stick by your side with you I told my self I wouldn't get this deep in love again But something tells me this time everything is going to be okay So just stay loyal to me And I'll never leave you Because my love is true And it's all because of you

wrote this poem to cheer up kids and even myself. It's one of my favorite candies. LOLLIPOPS! I like the green and the blue ones. I lick them fast... And then I chew them. {Which lollipops you like best?} "How about a lollipop for you Butterfly?" "What's your favorite?"
