President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama poetry night on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 proved favorable and successful despite of some overtones of opposition of having the" Def Jam" poet Common's visit. The popular Rapper poet is known for his high overtone of cynicism forced out with political views. However, the poetry program showed a fail proof approval afterall. The Obama opened doors for such poets to be recognized in the new poetry era. Never trying to replace contemporary poets this poetry is a form which reflects the present generation of expression. Often too, Common's poetry creates much controversy in reference to Southern undertones of racism and racists individuals in the south. Now the poet will get even more national attention after his appearance at the White House Poetry Night. Common's popularity will certainly drive more interest as to his style and the image he opens up for those not fully aware of that smoothed over cover immersing out with his style of the new day enigma. Despite of any undercurrent of dislike there seems to be a new Republic side of words and the art of poetry.
