
Stillman's Dr. Hyesook Jung, assistant professor of music in the Fine Arts Department, is spending her summer performing in South Korea.
On June 19, Jung will perform in a recital at YoungSan Art Hall in Seoul with flutist Ju-Hee Kim. Kim, taught woodwind at Stillman from 2009-2010. Currently, she is teaching as an adjunct professor in Korea.
As an accompanist to the University of Alabama Singers, Jung has participated in four other concerts this summer at different cities in South Korea. "It has been an amazing summer," she said. The University of Alabama singers were invited to Korea for 12 days (May 11-23). "We performed at the biggest and best hall of South Korea called the Seoul Art Center. We also went to Jeju. It is the most beautiful island of South Korea and we performed at the Jeju Art Center," she explained.
Jung is originally from Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from the University of Alabama with her D.M.A in Piano Performance. She has been in higher education for five years and at Stillman for four years where she teaches Applied Piano, Classic Piano and Advanced Music Theory.
