Former Harris-Stowe Student Athlete to Participate In Fundraiser with Larry Hughes (846 hits)


After Being Paralyzed in a Car Accident, Kenny Lee Makes an Effort to Return to the Court

Former Harris-Stowe State University student-athlete Kenny Lee is participating in the Man-to-Man celebrity wheelchair basketball game on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at 4 p.m. in the Emerson Performance Center at Harris-Stowe. Lee, who was paralyzed in a in 2009, is partnering with the Larry Hughes Foundation and Lonnie Maclin, formerly of the St. Louis Cardinals, to raise money for a custom-made wheelchair that will enable him to play wheelchair basketball with the Mobile Patriots, a team in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association.

Lee was a basketball player at Harris-Stowe when he went back to visit relatives in his home state of Florida and was severely injured in a car accident. After months of rehabilitation and recovery, Lee came back to St. Louis to complete his studies in Business Management at Harris-Stowe, while pursuing his dream to play basketball.

Tickets are being sold at Harris-Stowe in the Emerson Performance Center Office of Athletics or the Henry Givens Jr. Administration Building, Room 110.
