Tracy Lenore Jackson hopes follow-up memoir "Many a Time: A Memoir" will become the voice to women who are afraid to speak up about important issues regarding life choices
HOPKINS, Minn. (MMD Newswire) October 10, 2011 -- After the success of her first memoir "Ignorance Ain't Got No Shame," Tracy Lenore Jackson decided to keep her readers informed on what has been going on in her life since then. In her follow-up "Many a Time: A Memoir" (ISBN 0983232512), Jackson shows readers that starting over is never easy, but almost always worth it.
As she starts over again, Jackson struggles to keep her head above water. In the mid 1980s as a divorced woman before the age of 30, she is ashamed of her divorcee status and her inability to provide for her two young daughters.
When she remarries, her marriage takes a turn for the worst, and leaves her more depressed than she was before it started. Jackson shares her reflections on life as she realizes that she has been looking for love and validation in the wrong places. Thanks to the newfound enlightenment, she is able to live her life differently, and create a happier, healthier existence for herself.
Jackson acknowledges that her story may challenge readers' definition of what it means to be a woman. But she claims that she does this in order to make women realize that they will never be perfect, and there's nothing wrong with that. Tracy Lenore Jackson wrote her first memoir, "Ignorance Ain't Got No Shame," and self-published it in December 2010. She has had her essays published in African American Perspectives-Northeast Arkansas Magazine and on NPR's "This I Believe" website. Jackson formerly worked for Qwest Dex, a publishing company, for more than 10 years. She received her bachelor's from Bellevue University. She grew up in Kansas City, Kan. where she still has family. Her life's journey has also taken her to Missouri, Arkansas, Nebraska, Georgia and Oklahoma where she has many relatives and friends.
