The Emergency Alert System will conduct its first national testing alert system on all broadcasting systems. Around 2 p.m. E.S.T. November 9, 2011, all media television will be interrupted with a emergency alert signal test. The test is estimated to last approtimately 30 seconds. The government is conducting this test on a national level in order that future alerts can be broadcasted over the entire country in case of an actual live national threat or castastrophic siutation.
Changing the channels won't evade the test, but immediately following the test you'll be returned to your regular programs.
