14th Day
Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok has experienced months of being covered in a water world but finally waters are beginning to recede. Thai officials said on Friday, November 11, 2011 that canals, dikes and sandbags slowed down the flow of floodwaters toward Bangkok’s center. It has been 3 months of building defenses to control high volume flooding in the city. Much of the flood waters were coming from local river waters and during the rainy seasons with higher than ever rainfalls. This is a great relief to the city’s occupants and businesses who have experienced high waters, and even loss of shelters. Flood barriers played an significant role in lowering the water’s hold over the city.
