Health and ageing minister Nicola Roxon stated to the Austrialian's press that "it's an example of the world to follow." The new law bans the uses of advertising logos and replaces it with a uniform font listing the brand name. The cigarettes packages will contain photos with grapfic detail of smoking caused diseases such as mouth and other smoke related cancers & hazerdous illnessess. A spokesperson from Phillip Morris said they have no choice but to pursue the legal suit and served legal notice of abitration to the government under Austrailia's law. However, the Austrialian Pariliment insists this new ban law will make an impact on reducing their population of existing smokers and make aware of the dangerous side effects of smoking and health issues. The aim of the ban is to promote healthy living without smoking to it's communites. Their hope is the new packaging will deter smokers to encourage quitting. The new law will take action in December 2011.
