I filed a formal discrimination complaint against Judge Karen M. Cassidy who presides over the chancery division of the court in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey. She set my child support way too high from day one, and then threatened to raise it to $320 per week because I protested. Then even after I proved to her that my income was grossly misstated, she still refused to adjust it. My complaint was filed with the Supreme Court of New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct. The committee ruled that there was NO judicial misconduct by Judge Cassidy and closed that file in July 2011.
On August 8, 2008 Judge Karen Cassidy set the child support for former New Jersey Governor James McGreevey at $250 per week for his only child. Yet on April 23, 2001 Judge Cassidy set my child support for my son Justin at $285 per week. My income was $36,000 per year, yet she used $51,688 per year as my salary on her child support worksheet. At the time my ex-wife was making about $83,000 per year in salary and bonuses. Now as a manager at a financial services corporation, she makes over $140,000 per year including a yearly bonus of $20,000.
The Union County New Jersey court system overcharged me about $57,000 for child support than I was legally obligated to pay. One has to wonder how many other fathers have been illegally brutalized and victimized by the New Jersey court system? Then only to have an oversight committee find nothing wrong. There is NO doubt in my mind that this committee would rather hold onto their high paying jobs than properly investigate a complaint from a little person like myself and do the right thing. They all know that if they kick up too much dust and properly investigate these cases that they could eventually be in jeopardy of losing their jobs. They can't afford to take this risk in these tough economic times. It's much easier to slide my case underneath the rug and hope that I'll ride off into the sunset and vanish, never to be seen or heard from again.
In August 2011, my ex-wife was found in contempt of court for refusing to pay me child support after I was awarded custody of Justin. At that time the unpaid arrears amounted to over $16,000. This had absolutely NOTHING to do with the disputed overpaid child support in New Jersey. This was from a court Order signed in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
She was ordered to immediately pay me $5,000. There is still an outstanding balance of over $10,000. Sadly, my ex-wife doesn't seem to understand the financial beating that I took at the hands of the New Jersey court system. Nor does she care. Furthermore, she doesn't seem to understand that this money is designated to help insure that our son Justin's needs are met.
As a result of the court hearing she had to pay my attorney's fees of $800 and who knows how much her personal attorney's fees were. Nor did she seem to care. Her $16,000 balance of unpaid child support instantly went up to over $17,000. I guess she would rather pay her hard earned money to our opposing attorneys than to support her own biological child. I could understand if she didn't have the financial means. She doesn't seem to realize that God has immensely blessed her with the opportunity to earn and maintain a career and a six figure income in these tough economic times when millions of other Americans are unemployed and financially struggling. She regularly sends letters to Justin with various Bible scriptures quoted in them. Yet, she always talks about doing the right thing, treating others well and living a good Christian life.
But life goes on. (to be continued...........)
