The U.S. Enviormental Protection Agency announched that a controversial method for improving oil productivity of oil and gas wells may have attributed to be the blame for causing groundwater pollution. The fracking process is questionable because it appears to release contamination in the safe ground water which is drinking water. The EPA investiagion discovered that water samples has revealed low levels of hydrocarbons linked ot substances such as methane gas. Local residents have been reporting the water to have a fuel taste. The practice of hydraulic fracturing involves pumping pressurized wate, sand and chemicals underground to open fissures and improve the flow of oil and gas to the surface. It is the compounds and chemicals associated with "fracking" that's being detected in the small Wyoming community. Last year residents were advised not to drink their running water because of the levels found in the drinking water. Under close watch by the EPA Wyoming is poses a threat to safe drinking water. This may result in stricker rules for gas and oil companies to know the importance and solve the cause of endangering ground water with the practices of fracking and it's somewhat effects to the local community's safety.
"A threat to drinking water should out weigh fountains of oil or gas."
