Jake, I know it is permitted in Islamic tradition for a man to have more than one wife (a man can have up to 4 wives according to the Holy Quran), however I also think there is NO MAN that is disciplined enough to practice polygamy here in the U. S. and maybe that is one reason why it is not "legal". The way I see it, most (not all) men have a way of allowing their egos and s*xual fetishes overpower the balance and stability needed to handle a committed relationship.

The man may start off thinking that he can handle it and may be truthful in his thinking, but the large responsibility of that lifestyle is demanding on him. If he is not bringing balance and stability to the relationship he could be overwhelmed to the point he takes the path of least resistance. Which may be at the time being physical with one and ignoring the others leaving a bitter and dysfunctional household.

To the men who talk about polygamy being a good thing let's ask this, would you feel the same way if it was the reverse (women having more than one husband)?

I believe a man should have more than one wife if he chooses and if the women consents. I believe a woman should have more than one wife if she chooses and if the men consents. I don't want to have multiple husbands. LOL! My point is this. I could care less what people do with THEIR lives as long as they are not hurting anyone and more importantly they are not trying to infiltrate my life with their beliefs and actions.

Hello Faith,

This question is answerable only when we are a sovereign people in a country of our own and the women out numbering the men to such an extent that something has to be done like putting polygamy on the ballet for a country wide vote.

But, right now we should be very concern about more important things like coming together to be one people in a country of our own.
