ON THE WINGS OF THE WIND: THE UNTOLD STORY OF HISTORY’S FIRST FLIGHT. Historical Fiction by Richard Kigel (1343 hits)

As you all know only too well, the “history” of Black History isn’t pretty. It has long been abused, misused, mislaid, misplaced, dismissed, disrespected, simplified, ignored, mischaracterized, misunderstood and falsified.

Clearly, some of that has changed in the last forty years. Black History is experiencing a well-deserved renaissance. The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, opening in Washington, DC in 2015, already has a website going to involve the public in planning exhibits and educational programs on topics such as slavery, post-Civil War reconstruction, the Harlem Renaissance, and the civil rights movement.

Black History is a marvelously rich treasure that shows us where the real American heroes are. We are learning more details and making new discoveries all the time.

“So much of African American history is still buried in trunks, attics, basements and closets,” said Dr. Henry Louis Gates. “They keep finding Mayan cities and tombs of pharaohs. They’ve got to find more manuscripts from black people in the 19th century. I’m confident of it. It’s just the way it has to be.”

Tons of reading and research—writing, drafting, crafting, rewriting, revising, deleting, discarding, starting over, re-reading word by word—and finally it was ready for the world to read.

I will be sharing as much of the novel as I can with you all here at BIA because the star of the story is the great dignity, strength, resilience and courage of the men and women who are the heroes of American History.

As a writer, I would love the whole world—everyone—to read my book. So I do hope you enjoy reading each episode. One by one you will meet the characters, get to know them and ride along with them as they go on an adventure of a lifetime.

If you are interested in the book, it is available from the publisher: www.synergebooks.com and on my website: www.wingsfirstflight.com

Look for it here. I hope you follow the series and I do hope you appreciate and enjoy reading it.

PEACE AND BLESSINGS,
Rich
