From time constraints to travel costs, in-person campus visits can be out of reach for some prospective students. That’s why Alcorn State University has launched a virtual campus tour.
Those who take the virtual tour will get to see some of the most compelling sites on campus and have the chance to watch videos of other students, faculty, staff, and alumni talking about campus life.
“It’s an opportunity to experience Alcorn State University no matter where you are in the world,” says Associate Vice President for Marketing and University Relations Clara Ross Stamps. “It gives prospective students and visitors substantial information about Alcorn and student life through interactive and in-depth video
tours, photorealistic tours, and interactive campus maps.”
During the tour, students can easily share their experience via e-mails, tweets, and other social media sites, using the communication options they like to use. Students can also request additional information or apply online.
International student Eugenia Mekka, an agriculture economics major, shares her experience in a video: “There are plenty of opportunities to broaden your perspective and become more competitive in today’s global marketplace. At Alcorn, you can learn from students and professors from all over the world, develop English and foreign language skills in a supportive multicultural environment, travel and study abroad, and have other fascinating experiences that will change your life and empower you to have a positive impact on the world.”
Alcorn’s interactive campus map also works on mobile devices and includes GPS (Global Positioning Systems) integration, allowing campus visitors to determine their locations on campus and explore the buildings in their vicinity. The University partnered with CampusTours (campustours.com) to build its virtual tour. The CampusTours Awards Committee found Alcorn’s virtual experience to be a creative presentation, worthy of the CampusTours Four-Star Virtual Tour Award for the month of February.
