don't cross the street---
Don't scream in the dark.
I walk on the edge of existance---
Have no fear; I won't grab you.
How long will I have to
To whistle Beethoven or
Cross the street dodging traffic---
Touching the car lights
While I rush to the othet side ---
The other side to whistle Beethoven
And walk on the edge of the street.
Don't worry
I won't smile or
Wait for you to speak---
I don't want to speak to you
Either.
If I had a purse
I would hold it tighter
As I passed you
Whistling Beethoven---
Crossing the street to get away from you
Whistling DIXIE.
