HUFFINGTON POST, March 25, 2012 -- MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry mocked Geraldo Rivera's incendiary comments about slain teenager Trayvon Martin with biting sarcasm on Saturday. Martin was unarmed when he was shot to death by a self-appointed neighborhood watch volunteer. His killing and the controversial police handling of the case have provoked outrage across the country. On Friday, Rivera created a firestorm when he said that Martin was partially responsible for his death because he was wearing a hoodie. "I'll bet you money, if he didn't have that hoodie on, that nutty neighborhood watch guy wouldn't have responded in that violent and aggressive way," Rivera said. Harris-Perry hit back at those remarks on Saturday when she presented the "MHP dress code for black safety." On Harris-Perry's list of wardrobe no-nos for young black men: red and blue because they could be mistaken for gang colors ("try mauve, turquoise, or even salmon if you're daring"); and saggy pants, which are liable to fines in some parts of Louisiana, Georgia and Florida ("if the cops don't get you, your parents are sure to get mad for costing them all that money"). Last but not least on the list, she said, were those "pesky hoodies." She replayed a clip of Rivera's comments from Friday. "Oh clearly, Geraldo knows of what he speaks," she mocked. "Did you see that sharp suit? Although I would caution him on those shades of blue I saw. Hoodies are an absolute no."

i am a conservative on this issue.................
when i and my friends DRESS as the majority of the 2 Billion Muslims in the world dress at an Airport, Train Depot, Bus Depot, Government Office, anywhere --- WE get the staring, the legalWeapon guys out, and we are profiled and considered guilty...............
so if a urban kid wears URBAN clothing in the SUBURBS, he should have enough sense to UNDERSTAND --he is guilty!

Shaima Alawadi's 17-year-old daughter found her unconscious on the dining room floor of her home Wednesday. She was taken to the hospital and put on life support, but she was taken off life around 3 p.m. Saturday.

ROBERT--You make an excellent point. Where is the outrage for the murder of an innocent mother due to her clothing ahd her religion?
My question is--how many more of these outrages have to hit us before we actually do something to prevent them?

The NY Times reporter who was on the receiving end of his BS call said that this kind of abuse comes with the territory. He ponted out that RS knew that the cameras were rolling and would capture the wcene--exactly like ARizona Gov Brewer when she stuck her finger in Presdient Obama's chest. Both of them were playing to the cameras because they knew it would drive their votiers wild. Which it did.
The bottom line here: the reporter asked a perfectly legit question--which he avoided answering.

Wonder if Geraldo's (so far only 2 days of suspension from his weekend program) had anything to do with his choice of colors in his very, very expensive suits. (rotfl) (smile)
The suspension of steward and colbert will be going into effect if they are not on tomorrow> LOL!!!
@Rich remember my little story about the comic who said they called him back to school to suspend him for not being in school. LOL!!!...(smile)

Hopefully many people in Christian America got to see Don Lemon's program yesterday showing people all over our nationg putting aside their 'Sunday go to meeting dress up clothes" to dawn hoodies as a way of saying TM is their son also...

@robert under the first amendment last week the church sermon to introduce R Santorum's theme was "Aliens (as in non christians you are unwelcome in America"!!! Personally to me this is the outrage as it is the EDUCATE!!!EDUCATE!!!EDUCATE!!! taught long, long before the SYG law came into existance. (nup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
"I" expressly remember this preacher as Santorum was clapping from his enjoyment of this sermon, did mention Buddist are aliens also...

@Rich,if I could help cure a closed mind, I would do allin my power to help take that 'shovel' outof thehands of right-winers for our nation's sake. example,
Over on Fox, the four of the five on The 5@ Fox, they are talking about our president sould not have been caught on taht open mike, because he sould not have been meeting with this person in the first place. they have concluded he should have been on the cellphone talking to Putin...now as they did not say if our president sould have been talking on the phone sitting in a that meeting or not...
but if he had been talking on th phone and not talking to the person he was talking to and saying what he said, we would never have gotten that definition of the right-winger he gave as a response to the attacks on our president...
you know th e party who invented don' talk bad about our president when he is on foreign soil...lol(smile)
