Obama's personal view on gay marriage hasn't changed, he has been in favor of that for a long time. This is what he had to say back in 1996: 1996: In his first run for office, state Senate candidate Barack Obama responds to a North Side gay magazine’s issues survey with a letter that includes his support for gay marriage. “I favor legalizing same-s*x marriages, and would fight effort to prohibit such marriages,” Obama wrote in the signed letter.

I have no objection to gay couples having all the rights and privileges of marriage. However, I simply object to using the word "marriage" to describe gay unions. I feel the word "marriage" belongs uniquely to man/woman unions. To change the definition of marriage to include homos*xual unions, is the same as removing the element of life (procreation) from marriage. It loses it sacredness. Think of it in this way. Your employer has a set of rules you have to follow at work. It may not be rules you prefer, but non the less the rules are there to protect you and your job. Similarly, God designed rules about marriage, not because He can, but because He knows it's the best thing for the family structure and children.
