Would Marissa Alexander been better off if she had killed her husband? (443 hits)

Would Marissa Alexander been better off if she had killed her husband?

Marissa Alexander tried to use the stand your ground laws in her defense during her trial on aggravated assault charges. It took a jury 12 minutes of deliberation to give Marissa Alexander 20 years for firing a warning shot into the air when confronted by an abusive husband. It took months to arrest George Zimmerman who also claimed stand your ground. The only differences besides race is that Zimmerman killed the only other witness. That leads me to this question. Would Marissa Alexander been better off if she had killed her husband? Vote here: http://aareports.com/2012/05/would-marissa...

Why are we still comparing this case to the Trayvon Martin case? I really don't see what one case has to do with the other. Is that both cases occured in Florida. I think Ms. Alexander got a raw deal and it sounds to me from just the verdict, she didn't have an effective legal team. If anything, I believe with an effective team she would have had to give up custody of her child because of endangerment (firing a loaded weapon in the presence of children).

If she knows what I know, she'd better get another legal team and appeal that verdict!
