The family unit is where a child learns dignity and how to face individual destiny. It is where children learn role modeling and the kind that you do not have to identify. It is in the family where children learn confidence and all the basic skills to be a part of a whole. After all, living in society is part of a whole. It is also where the child learns the responsibility of a citizen in an ordered society.
It is in the family where we learn the first lesson of truth. It is where we learn right and wrong. it is were we learn goodness and unconditional love. It is where we learn to give support. It is where we learn love and justice between brothers and sisters. This is something that children miss when they don't have siblings. Not only are they sometimes lonely but they develope a sense of searching for that that is missing and that is another one of him or her.
I know some great children that came from single family households. The family unit as designated by pro family proponants, consist of a father, because without him there would be no children, and a mother for without her there would be no children. They both are needed to create the children. Therefore, they are both responsibile for their product.
I do believe that a mother can rear well adjusted children without their father if she has too. And, I do believe that a woman can raise a boy child to be a good man. All she has to do is teach him to be what she herself wants in a man. I also bellieve that a man can do the job as well if he has to. Most well adjusted people step up to the plat when the need arises and they do a great job.
If you are one who used the bible to outline every facet of our life today, then I guess the first family did not set a good example. But who said they were the first? Who were those people in Nod, where and when did they come along?
