TO ALL AT BIA:
As you all know, the election season is heating up.
As is proper in a democratic government, our future will be decided by the people. The party, philosophy, platform, policies, programs that receives the most votes gains the power to translate those policies into law.
Yes, the philosophy of the government in power will have a direct impact on your life. The next President will likely appoint another Supreme Court justice. Do we really want another vote to strengthen the power of corporations and limit the power of minorities?
If the GOP gains control of the next Congress their first order of business will be to repeal Obamacare and following that, pass burdensome and discriminatory anti-immigrant laws, restrict access to health care for women and minorities and who knows what else.
That is why your vote to re-elect the President and insure Democratic majorities in Congress is crucial.
While it is true that polls shows that African-Americans strongly support the President,
there are alarming signs that the overall number of minority voters is in DECLINE. The Washington Post reported on 2010 U.S. Census data that shows the number of Black and Latino registered voters fell sharply, with 2 million fewer voters in 2010 than 2008. Election experts attributed the decline in Black and Latino registered voters to the bad economy, families relocating to find work and not re-registering to vote.
Some states have passed voter suppression laws designed to reduce the number of votes for the President. Come November, it’s very likely that the number of registered minority voters will plummet and drastically impact the makeup of electorate to exclude minorities, students, elderly and low-income citizens—all reliable votes for Obama.
If you live in swing states like Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida, minority vote turnout could really make a difference in the outcome of the election.
That is why I am asking for your help from now till the election in November. I will be posting articles and links debunking the myths surrounding President Obama and his policies and programs, especially correcting the massive misinformation about the Health Care Law (Obamacare).
Please share these articles with everyone you can—especially if they live in a swing state where the vote is so close it could go either way. BIA gives you the option to post it on FACEBOOK. Share it with your friends.
Let’s use the power of social media to demonstrate the POWER OF THE PEOPLE!!!
LOVE TO YOU ALL,
