Tried and True for Over 3000 Years! (321 hits)

The American College of Physicians and the American Pain Society now include massage as one of their recommendations for treating a variety of musculoskeletal issues such as joint pain, lower back issues, and rotator cuff problems. There have been numerous studies done on massage and its impact on various medical issues such as anorexia, blood pressure, multiple sclerosis, and headaches. It’s clear today what has been clear for over 3,000 years in Eastern and Chinese Traditional Medicine, massage can be used as alternative medicine with MUCH fewer side effects than traditional medicine.

It’s commonly understood that massage helps to loosen muscles and alleviate tension in the joints and soft tissue. But what is not understood by the public is the incredible physiological benefits that take place due to this release of stress and tension. Studies have shown that a significant decrease in a hormone called Cortisol occurs after massage and continues to be lowered when massage is used consistently. Cortisol is a stress hormone that when elevated in the body, has the ability to kill growing cells and trigger the storage of fat. Massage also has shown to boost white cell production (cells that fight infection), and decrease proteins that are linked to inflammation and allergic reactions.

There are over 80 different types of massage therapy styles that use a variety of pressures, movements, and techniques. Pressing, rubbing, and manipulating the muscles allows for easier toxin release, greater mobility, tension release in the muscle, and enhanced neuromuscular activity. The most common massage styles are; Swedish, where therapists use long smooth strokes, kneading, and circulate movements on superficial layers of muscle, Hot Stone Massage, which therapists apply heated stones onto muscles and place gentle pressure, and then lastly Deep Tissue Massage, where slower stokes or friction is used across the grain of the muscle. Depending on your muscle or health issue, qualified practitioners will be able to access the proper technique.

Youngevity CM Cream is perfect for further enhancing the techniques of massage therapy. Its unique formula uses a potent blend of Esterified Fatty Acid Carbons and Menthol/Peppermint Oils to sooth achy muscles. Research in aromatherapy supports the use of Youngevity’s Ancient Legacy brand of oils such as Lavender, Peppermint, and Trauma.

It’s National Massage Week so why not make an appointment and take along your own Ancient Legacy oils for the therapist to use?
