The Power of Minority Thinking (4014 hits)

Somebody said that you are what you live. Just what does that mean? If you live in a pig sty your are a pig? If you live in a German community, you are a German? If you live in the wilderness, you are wild? If you live in the ghetto, you are poor???

If the place you reside is labeled as negative, and you accept the name given to it by somebody who doesn't live there, you are perpetuating your own negativity. As certain groups view various situations, their evaluation becomes the norm. If you embrace it you contribute to your own demise. You aid in your own negativity...

...How can you be a minority when you are a part of the 99 out of every 100? ... There are more girl babies born and more of them survive than boy babies. How can you be a minority, ladies... Some even say that all babies conceived are girls and later, become boys when the harmone created by the Y chromosome kicks in...

Every time a young American African boy presents himself as a thug, he helps the creator... who benefits from the lie....The excuse cited by the youth is "It doesn't matter..." But it does when that same young man is viewed by the rest of the world as a thug...The image of American African males spread through out the world is threefold. 1, if he is 7 feet 25, he plays basketball; if he is short, he is a rapper or a dope dealer. It doesn't occur to the foreigner that he may be a student....

There was a time in the American African community when young people were not allowed to leave home when their appearence was unkept. To do so was a reflection on the parent and a lack of home training....

Today, those attitudes and behaviors are considered acting "White". Being clean-cut, and your clother look like they were bought for you is acting white? ...you sure are giving them too much credit. What are you saying about yourself....

How far have we come since 1863? Are we really free as the 13th amendment said or are we still on the plantation?

There are three conponents to this minority designation:
1 A ll of the identified minorities and non white...
2 All of these minorities are manupilated using cultural chracteristics...
3 The use of racism pits them against each other...

The common denomanator is the majority status, the ability to convence the rest of the world that they are right because God said so....

minority thinking is, in my opinion--------a 'black/white' colorDesignation of ones self

skin color does not have the Human Attribute of Thought

We are Americans a Minority of the Family of Adaam(as)----to think otherwise Seems unIntelligent............

It is true that the neighborhood environment has an effect on the minds of our children. It can be disappointing when they look around their surroundings and see buildings that are vacant, condemned,or burnt out. Children who are observant notice that even the Latino neighborhoods are more well kept then Black Americans, and that there are no Black owned stores in other people's neighborhood. You can teach your child that he might grow up to be a famous singer, preacher, football player, and politician, but you can't teach them that they can own and run an insurance company, hospital or factory.

Robert, I think you misunderstood me. Make no mistake about it, racism in America is alive and well and regardless of how you feel personally, black/white rears its ugnly head. I agree with you, we are all of one people. However because of where we live and who has tried to control everything since day one, there are people who believe that they are a minority. All I am saying is if YOU(a person) count Yourself as a minority in the same vein that society classifys you, Then you think you are less than somebody, I don't care what color they are. That is why the group with whom we identify, accepts second class citizenship.

Helen, Yes we can teach them to own and run a business. I am sure there are some businesses owned by black people in most cities. It is up to us to change the dynamics of their environment. We make a mistake when we teach them to "get" a job instead of "Make" a job. Teach them to be the first to do something. There is always John Johnson, and George Johnson and the Cookie man, Famous Amos. There are many people who are not athletes or musical giants who have made contributions too. Those people (athletes etc), are not in their communities either. The job may be harder but it can be done. Is there a black newspaper in your area? If not introduce them to one from someplace else. Like the Chicago Defender, or the Pittsburge Courier to name a few. I have a black insurance agent, what about cafes and restaurants, gas station, Doctors, Dentist, landscapers etc. I know black people who own these businesses. It can be done.

I just suggested to a friend to apply for a grant to help her get started on a project she wants done in restoring a part of Black history in our area. Her first try with promises from investers fell through and she went into a state of depression....

but, we should never give up on a dream of accomplishing something.(smile)
