HUFFINGTON POST, October 17, 2012 -- When Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan decided to stop by an Ohio soup kitchen to wash non-dirty dishes for no one in particular, people were pretty quick to call baloney on the phony photo-op.
“It was the phoniest piece of baloney I’ve ever been associated with. In hindsight, I would have never let him in the door,” volunteer Juanita Sherba told Youngstown’s Viddy.com.
“They couldn’t have cared less,” she added, noting that Ryan seemed to have little interest in talking to patrons. The campaign even prohibited reporters from covering conversations
Ryan had with a few homeless men outside the kitchen.
On Tuesday night's "Colbert Report," Stephen joined in on the fun and mocked Ryan's careless campaign stop with pleasure:
"Now, folks, that may sound pointless, but remember: he's running for Vice President -- the Commander In Pointless."
Watch the video above to hear Colbert's theory on how Ryan is actually the victim in this scenario, followed by a very special PSA.
