I spent the day watching all the events of World War II turned movies on American Movie Classics (AMC), and as always, the brothers are absent. Between commercials I switched to the news and caught a piece on a soldier scheduled to be executed in December 2012, the first since 1961. So this being Veterans Day, weekend in all, I wonder how many Black soldiers have been executed under military law. My Grandfather and Great Uncle served in World War II. My Grandfather fought in Europe and G-Uncle fought in the Pacific.... believe me, it was not with pitch forks. Wow! Mr. Sanford, I leave your blog. No further comments.

To All,
My understanding about the early stages of Vet Nam is the soldiers were ham strung because they were there as observers, so it is conceivable that they would not be allowed to use bullets without permission. Keep in mind Vet Nam was not declared a War by congress but was classified as a police action. king David can give a better assessment of the situation.

Yeah we are very interested in being a participant in the resurgence of Newark. You there use to be a sign when you entered the state that said "if it's not made here, its not made anywhere" well we know that change when the majority of manufacturing was outsourced.

@James at the time taht we firt went into Nam we were stationed on the Mairne corp bace on Ohau Hawii...within a few hours thebase ahad been stroped of the marines so faxt until they had to call home to tell family hey were ont their way to Nam to help protect the seabees in chuli Nam...a few days they sent our names by alphabets to family left so the General of the Marine corps could tell us that if we wanted to return home, we would have to pay our own way, because our husbands were only tad (or on tempary duty in nam and not statined there) if time for them to rotate back off that base they would be sent backohme...and taht the could be taded for up to two years...

If we were seen in war movies of old, we were seen as janitors and cooks...and tis is again why "I" try and stress we learn not just our true history, but our true American istory...
Blacks were not trusted to have guns in wwII.wwII an dyet we severed in every war in our history. example, a Black man was one of the first killed in our revolutionalry war. (smile)
